COUNSELORS CORNER

It's hard to believe that we've finished the first month of school already! We are excited as we watch students engaging in their classes and working hard.

There are several exciting things coming up for students to be aware of. On September 3, Seniors will have the opportunity to participate in Application Day. Several colleges will be on campus to answer questions, give information, and help students apply. Also, our support groups are up and running....students needing help with anxiety, grief, or anger management are encouraged to pick up a permission slip in room 538. Groups are approximately 8 weeks long and we focus on talking through and coping with the various struggles that students face.

Other upcoming events:

  • September 3: College Fair and Application day for Seniors.
  • September 16: Grand Canyon University Field Trip
  • September 17: CAC visit in the College/Career center
  • October 2: EVIT assembly for Sophomores
  • October 16: PSAT (see Mrs. McDowell in the counseling office for details)
  • October 16: SAT (see Mrs. McDowell in the counseling office for details)
  • October 21: Northern Arizona University field trip

AP TESTING

Taking the Advanced Placement exams is an important part of all AP courses. Combs High School desires that all students take AP exams for the AP classes that they are enrolled in. Scoring well on an AP exam can often earn students college credit for their high school class, saving a significant amount on tuition.

For the 2020 AP exams, students at Combs High School will be registering online. This registration will take a few minutes and can be completed from any computer with internet access.
