From the Principal's Desk

Zebra Nation,

What an amazing RivalZ Week last week! It was my first time experiencing the RivalZ Week. I was pumped up by our pride and participation! Well done Zebra Nation! Thank you to the Student Senate, Staff, and all of our Students for showing your Wayne Pride and Spirit all week long!

I had the privilege of attending my first Champions Banquet last this past week. I was so impressed and PROUD of the over 100 Zebra’s that participated in the Program AND met their goal to earn a $200 check! That’s right $200 for doing well at school! WOW! EVERY Zebra should be doing this! You need to get in on this program right now. See our Champions Leaders in Room 249 for guidance on how to sign up. Do it asap. Get signed up, use it as motivation, go rock it out, and get paid.

Our WMHS AP Parent Night Meeting has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Feb.8th. The meeting will take place from 6-7pm in our Lecture Hall.

COUNT DAY is this Wednesday! Our student count = funding from the State = programming at WMHS! PLEASE make sure that you are at school on Count Day! This is very, very important!

Cool Classrooms

The Transition class is learning retail skills, money handling, and customer service by selling cookies. During the first semester, students completed ServSafe food handler certification. Cookies are prepared during the earlier portion of 4th hour and sold during C-lunch. The amazing staff who work with this program plan to expand the operation to serve all lunches next school year. If you have C-lunch, you can find this great group of entrepreneurs tucked away in the auditorium lobby. Bring a dollar and enjoy a fresh warm cookie, served with a smile!

Senate February Activities

2/8/23: 12 senators will be attending a KLAA forum at Salem High School to learn about marketing.

2/16/23: Senate meeting during 1st hour.

Unified Basketball

Our goal is to show that no matter the needs, abilities or disabilities of our students, we can all come together as one Unified team.

We Need Help: We could use additional "student coaches" to get involved. These student coaches would assist the Special Olympians on the court, grabbing a rebound or two, passing the ball, helping to direct players regarding placement etc. The student coaches don't try to score, instead passing to open players. If you are interested, please contact the coaches for our program, Larry Lyman (lymanl@wwcsd.net) and Ra-Mon Watkins (watkinsr@wwcsd.net).

Athletic News:

You must show Student ID to get into home events. If you do not have your ID you will not be allowed entrance. Spring sports will be starting soon. You must sign up and have a physical to tryout. Stop by the athletic office if you have any questions. If you are interested in Softball please stop by and sign up as there will be hitting in the batting cages this Thursday. If you are interested in Girls Golf please stop by the athletic office this week.
