We're going to be at the fair! We'd love company!

Education Matters, our social marketing campaign, will be the up-front message with activities, information and resources. Help us staff our booth in Douglas Hall and get a ready-made platform to talk about your organization's work and mission for Douglas County Youth. Our 10x10 booth will have a story corner with books, carpet squares and a cozy adult chair, a robotics section, "Say your #selfie #DCEdMatters or #PromiseOR photo station, and space for our literature and YOURS. Sign up for a two- to four-hour slot Aug. 5-8 and come enjoy "Possibly the Best County Fair on Earth." We know we will! Fair time is TOTALLY fun time! See ya there!

To the right you'll see a conceptual graphic (a larger version is at the bottom of the newsletter) of what we'd like to include in our booth:
  • Story time corner and bookshelf
  • Robotics space to play
  • Table for our DCPSS literature and yours
  • A "say it your #selfie" photo station
  • Activity table for ... well, you tell us!

Interactive career, early learner exploration games in the works

We're also planning to cobble together an interactive fair booth scavenger hunt, to interest middle and high schoolers in querying other fair booths to find out which jobs require education between a high school- and 4-year college diploma. We're also working on an animal and activity-based scavenger hunt for the 0-9 crowd to encourage parents and kids to learn and explore the fair together. Completed scavenger hunts will be entered for a prize. What's the prize? Maybe some Education Matters swag, maybe something from your organization, maybe you suggest something! Make it awesome!
