Math PLCs

This Thursday we will be working in Math PLCs. We will try to meet in our new conference room in the cafeteria. Please bring your math planning materials, your next unit test, and grade level samples of math work (decide as a team what evidence you will bring).

National Read A Book Day

We are celebrating National Read A Book Day on Thursday, September 6. Stay tuned for a fun video book talk from Mrs. Logan and Mrs. Helton to share with your students.

Attendance is so important, both staff and student attendance! Look out for attendance incentives coming soon. Remember that student achievement is closely linked with teacher attendance.

Makerspace

Sign up now for September Makerspace! This month's lesson is well aligned to your properties of matter TEKS for science. Students will explore the properties of play dough and the properties of a "PIrate Cruncher" sea monster that they will create. ELL Checklist

If you have a bilingual or ESL student, you will need to complete the attached Accommodations form. It needs to be completed BOY (now), MOY (January), and EOY (April). The form is editable.

Enrichment Groups!

Are you interested in working with kids after school once a week on fun and engaging activities? We have LOTS of opportunities for you! Please review this list and let me know what you might be interested in. OR let me know if there's something else you would be interested in starting! Enrichment groups will meet on Thursdays after school. We will be having a special assembly to meet with students and do interest surveys and recruit.

New Absence Reporting Procedures

Please review new district guidelines for reporting absences.

The big change is that you will no longer report any type of absences in Eduphoria. All absences will be reported through TEAMS only.


You will still be required to put personal business in at least 3 days prior, and substitutes (if needed) are required to be pre-arranged. TEAMS will not release the job to be subbed until it is first approved by Mrs. Logan, so let her know ahead of time that you are putting personal business requests in TEAMS.

Volunteers Coming!

Volunteers from First Presbyterian will be on campus Saturday, September 15. They will be doing work around the school. We are putting a list together of things they can do. Please include any tasks that might be helpful for you. You will not have to be present, but you will need to leave the necessary materials and explicit directions for the volunteers.

CIS Notes

If you have any school uniforms that you would like to donate, you can drop them off with Ms. Hernandez. She appreciates your donations!


Ms. Hernandez will begin meeting with students for initial assessments starting September 4.

Safe Schools Training

Safe Schools training is due for all staff by September 3, 2018.


To access the SafeSCHOOLS platform, use any of the links provided in this document or type in the URL:

1. Access SafeSCHOOLS: http://wacoisd.tx.safeschools.com/login

2. Username will be: Employee ID# (8-digit)

3. Password: First Initial (Uppercase) + Last Initial (lowercase) + @# + last 4-digits of Employee ID#

4. Required courses will appear on your home screen

5. All course completions will be tracked by WISD Human Resources and the Office of Professional Development.
