The Huffman Commitment

We will work with every student, staff member, and family to develop and maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning community. We are committed to continuously improving our professional practices and take responsibility for the academic, social, and emotional growth of every student. We believe all people can grow in a positive direction.

Principal's Note

Dear Huffman Families,

I hope this finds you well. Please review the news items below.

Our staff took part in a half day health and safety training this past Friday and our procedures and mitigation plans are just about complete. We will continue to hone our protocols over the next two weeks. When I get the final approval, I will be sharing the detailed plans with the Huffman community.

Our Huffman specialists have put together a newsletter for the community. Please check out their link below.

Our staff updated their small group intervention plans and have reached out to specific families for participation. If your teacher contacted you, please do your best to have your student participate in these small group lessons. It will be the most impactful way for staff to specifically support your student and target areas of need. If you have questions, please reach out to your teacher.

As always, please reach out with any celebrations, questions, or concerns.

All the best, Chris

Small Group Intervention and Support

Teachers have begun to meet with small groups of students to provide extra support, interventions, and guidance. As teachers reach out to you to offer this support, I encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity for your student.

Small Group Interventions Offer:

  • Many opportunities for students to respond and share their thinking
  • Many opportunities for staff to provide specific feedback to individuals
  • Targeted work - students will work on the particular skills they need to develop

Help Keep ASD Symptom Free

We are counting on all families to help keep ASD symptom free. Although there have been confirmed Covid cases reported in school activities, there has been no confirmed community spread within schools. We want to keep it that way. So far, the mitigation strategies have worked.

At any time, if you have questions, please email nurse Krista at hepler_krista@asdk12.org
