168th Lighthouse School in the Nation, Building Leaders

Tuscany Heights Elementary

Tuscany Heights is the 168th Lighthouse School in the Nation as recognized by Stephen Covey. Through student leadership, we grow leaders that encompass a growth mindset and establish lifelong skills that will support our students as they grow into adults. Our mission is a living action statement that we use to guide Team Tuscany, as we do great things for all.

"We, THE Tigers, will be inspired to LEAD, HONOR, and EXCEL today!"

Bailey's Bulletin

Parents,

What a great week back! We celebrated our hard working students and staff with PTA Presents BMX Pros. See social media for video footage, as well as pictures.

We look forward to kicking off the final week in March. We are ending next week with a Spring Fling Family Fun Dance. Come out and join us Friday night! Flyer attached.

Don't forget we are registering Kindergarten students for 2019-20 at this time! We currently have almost 40 students registered, and we would love to have even more! We have the cutest shirt and yard signs for our newest little Tigers. We are also registering for our newest addition to Tuscany, our PreK Class. Please reach out to slight@neisd.net to schedule a time to register and to make your time here most valuable!

I would like to invite you to be part of our Parent Teacher Association in the coming school year. We love our volunteers, and we are looking forward to building another strong team for the 2019-20 school year. See information below under PTA.

Last Day to Enter PVSA Hours 4/15/19

The last day to enter hours on the PVSA website is 4/15/19! Please be sure you are entering hours on the correct account, if there is no age group listed, your student’s profile needs to be updated with date of birth. However the name appears in the student’s profile is how the award will be printed. Please verify that hours, name spelling and punctuation, and date of birth are all correct. Attached to this week’s eblast is a list of all students with hours logged as of 3/8/19. If you do not yet have an account set up for your student please see below for instructions. Contact Kelly Cardenas, PVSA/Community Service Committee Chair, with any questions at 210-409-2275.

Does your student volunteer at Tuscany Heights through patrols, broadcasting, library lifesavers or any other leadership position? Does your student do community service through scouts or your church? Does your student volunteer at any organizations such as a food bank or animal shelter? If you answered "yes" to any of those questions, we want to know so we can acknowledge your child! If you already have an account at the Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) website then don't forget to log your child's hours. If you are new to logging hours, please create a PVSA account for your Tiger so you can start logging. Full instructions can be found on the Tuscany Heights PTA website:

NEISD Council PTA Used Book Sale

Our Used Book Collection will continue through the end of March! Tuscany Heights will be participating in the NEISD Used Book Sale again this year so we need your gently used paperback and hardcover books, CD’s, and DVD’s! Please send your donations to school with your student in a bag/box clearly marked with name, teacher and grade anytime during the month of March. A flyer was sent home in backpacks with information on class and student incentives, this flyer can also be found on our THE PTA website! We will have a table for book donations at our Spring Fling Family Dance on Friday 3/29, this will be your last chance to donate!

Spring Fling Family Dance Friday 3/29/19 6:30pm-8:30pm

Mark your calendars and dust off your dancing shoes! THE PTA will be sponsoring a Family Dance on Friday 3/29 from 6:30pm-8:30pm in the THE cafeteria! Come enjoy music and dancing, light refreshments and lots of family fun! We’ll even have a few volunteer photographers on hand to take pictures. If you’re interested in helping us set up and decorate, serve punch and cookies and/or clean up, please email president@tuscanyheightspta.org.

PTA Elections/Open Executive Board Positions

It’s time to begin the process of filling the Tuscany Heights PTA Officer and Committee Chair positions for the 2019-2020 school year, and we need YOU! Brief descriptions of each position are listed on a flyer available in the front office and attached to this eblast, or you can contact president@tuscanyheightspta.org for more information. If you enjoy school wide events like Field Day, Bike Rodeo, Family Dances, Run for the Heights with Boosterthon, and also want your students to enjoy field trips, assemblies and STEAM presentations throughout the year then please consider stepping up and joining our amazing THE PTA.

Are you interested in joining our THE PTA Executive Board for the remainder of the 2018-19 school year? We currently have four open positions: VP of Programs, Sunshine, Lost & Found, and THE PTA Presents…. Contact Kelly Evans at president@tuscanyheightspta.org for more information.

Lost and Found!

Please be sure to label your child's belongings...lunch boxes, water bottles, sweaters, jackets, backpacks, etc., this makes it easy for us to return lost items to students so that they don’t end up in our overflowing lost and found.

THE Tiger Spirit Store is still Open!

You can still access our online spirit store to purchase spirit items and/or donate to Greenbacks and join PTA. Go to www.TuscanyHeightsPTA.org and click on the Tiger Spirit Store section! Some quantities/sizes are limited, but we still have orange STEAM spirit shirts, navy boys and girls shorts, navy ladies shirt, and navy women’s hats so place your order today! Our Greenbacks goal for this year is $5,000 and we are currently over half way there. If we meet our goal the students get to send Mrs. Bailey and Mrs. Leon through a student constructed car wash! Our donation levels are: $200 and up-Tiger, $150-Platinum, $100-Gold, $50-Silver, $25-Bronze
