Shield Testing
James Hart School tested 597 students and staff through Shield on Thursday, January 13, 2022, and there were ten positive cases. There were also three other positive cases reported to the school. The positive cases and the close contacts have been personally notified about quarantine procedures. Classroom notifications have been emailed. The final results will be posted to the COVID dashboard on the HSD 153 web page.
District 153 Day of Service
Schools will be closed on Monday, Jan. 17th, in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday. However, District 153 has teamed up with the Village of Homewood to honor Dr. King’s dream by supporting three agencies that provide critical services to those in need in our community.
Our three schools have “adopted” the following organizations and will be collecting donations on their behalf through Jan. 17th. Please click the links below for more information about needed donations.
Willow School: The South Suburban Humane Society (needed donations)
Churchill School: Anew (needed donations)
James Hart School: Respond NOW (needed donations)
We hope our Wildcat, Bulldog, and Panther families will be as generous as possible in their support for our neighbors in need this winter.
Just pull into James Hart's Morgan Street drive and members of the NJHS and Interact Club will help unload your car...donating couldn't be easier!
Mid-Term Grades
STAR Testing
We will be STAR testing all students in Reading on January 18th and Math on January 20th. Students will be taking the tests during their ELA and their Math classes. Please make sure students bring a fully charged laptop to school.
Student Computers
It is imperative that students bring a charged laptop to school each day to be prepared for class and assignments.
Just a reminder:
1.) Computers MUST be in their cases.
2.) Computers need to be charged EVERY night so that they are fully charged for the school day. (Leave chargers at home.)
3.) Only use your computer for teacher-approved activities. It is not appropriate or acceptable to play games, watch YouTube, or be on another site/app that is not specifically assigned by your teacher.
*Not following these rules may result in a warning, parent phone call home, teacher detention, or office referral.
Masks
Please make sure to remind your child about the importance of proper mask-wearing during the school day. Masks are required for the bus and to enter the school.
Students should bring an extra mask to school each day in their backpack.
