River Gradac in Valjevo

Gradac is one of cleanest rivers in Serbia with untouched nature. The quality of water of the river is class 1. Gradac is a small river and its canyon is only 11 km long. During summer period the river is very nice for picnicking and fly fishing. There are also some historical and archeological sites.

Many people believe that Gradac beauty is worth seeing.


Monastery of Ćelije The Monastery of Ćelije, a medieval Orthodox monastery, is located by the Gradac river. It was founded in the late 13th century. Its original architecture from the period of Turkish rule is not saved. Today the monastery has a beautiful yard, surrounded by tall trees.	Ethnic restaurant When you visit the Monastery of Ćelije you can easily climb down to the Gradac green rapids. There is a small farmhouse with a restaurant across the river. If you are thirsty or hungry you can stop off here. This restaurant offers fresh fish from the river Gradac and other traditional meals.	Mottled Cloth On the way to Mottled Cloth you will enjoy looking at unusual and specific flora and fauna. The deep shadows of surrounding woods offer you escape from the summer heats. After 30 minutes of walking from the ethnic restaurant you will get there. You will recognize the place when you see a high cliff, ramarkable for its variety of colours. This place belongs to the village of Brangovic. The Name of the village comes from the name of an old fortress above the cliff. You will be amazed to see so many wonders in such a small space!
