Fall Conferences

Fall goal-setting conferences will take place on Tuesday, October 5th from 3:30pm - 7:30pm (in-person) and Tuesday, October 12th from 3:30pm - 7:00pm (virtual). In-person conferences will be a drop-in classroom visit, and for virtual conferences, we will be utilizing ParentVue and Google Meets. The window for scheduling conferences will open on Monday, October 4th at 3:00pm and close on Friday, October 8th at 12:00 pm.


Our fall conferences will focus on setting academic goals for the school year. Students are working on a digital worksheet in Advisory to prepare for the conference. You, your child, and your child’s teacher will participate in the conference. We are requesting you select 1-3 teachers that you would most like to speak with to allow for maximum participation. Conferences will be limited to 5 minutes. As always, we encourage you to keep in touch with teachers if this date and time doesn’t work for you.


If you are planning to attend the in-person conferences on October 5th, there is no action needed on your part. However, if you plan on attending the virtual conference night on October 12th, please follow the following instructions:


For this conference, you will sign up for a 5-minute time slot with 1-3 of your child’s teachers.

● You may sign up to meet with Core or Exploratory teachers as they will be available for scheduled conferences.

● Please follow these directions to schedule time with teachers using ParentVue: ParentVue Scheduling Instructions.

○ Note you MUST use the provided web browser link; using the ParentVue app will not allow for scheduling access. The Google Meet link will be available in ParentVue Conference tab.

● Please log in at the exact start time of your conference. If you don’t arrive on time, we cannot guarantee you will be able to meet with your teacher.

NOTES FROM VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR - ANDREA DORN

The 2021-22 school year is off to an amazing start! The support of our dedicated volunteers is a huge asset to our school. Whether you can commit to a weekly volunteer opportunity, or occasionally, we appreciate your presence at school. I look forward to working with all our parents throughout the year.


NEW- Goal Setting Conferences Catered Meal for Teachers (previously known as Parent/Teacher Conferences) Goal Setting conferences are just around the corner and we know the days are long for the teachers and this would be a great way to show our appreciation for a job well done. This year we are organizing the conference food slightly differently. In the link you will see a couple categories in which you can contribute items with the main category we are asking for monetary donations. The monetary donations will be put towards the purchase of a "boxed meal" that I will setup for the teachers to quickly grab immediately after school prior to their in classroom conferences. Any contribution is greatly appreciated as we all are excited to resume conferences IN PERSON😊 Please drop off donations in the main office by 2:00 PM ON FRIDAY (Oct. 1st) or by 2:00 PM ON TUESDAY (Oct. 5th). Thank you!

What To Do...

ABSENCES

If your child is going to be late or absent from school, please call the school with the reason for the absence. The telephone call eliminates the need to send a note with your student when he/she returns to school. We would appreciate having the call between the hours of 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM. Excused absences consist of illness, medical appointments, and family emergency situations such as a funeral. Oversleeping, missing the bus, or skipping school are not excused and are considered truancy.

APPOINTMENTS/EARLY RELEASE

A parent/guardian must send a note excusing their student from school. The student must bring the note to the Student Services office before school to get a pass. When it is time for the student to leave school, they must sign out in the main office. If a student does not have a note, a parent/guardian is required to come into the office with a photo ID to sign out their student. This procedure is in place to ensure student safety.

High School Football Games

If your child plans to attend any of our high school football games (OSH, MGSH, PCSH) they must be accompanied by an adult. Positive behavior expectations will be enforced at all times and any student who chooses not to follow this will be asked to leave the property. Football games provide exciting times for our students and we want to ensure everyone can enjoy responsibly.

Schoology Information

Schoology is a tool for parents to see assignments, communicate with teachers, and see grade. Please see the link below to learn how to gain access to this powerful tool.

SCHOOL MEALS & FREE/REDUCED APPLICATIONS

School breakfast and lunch will be served FREE of charge to ALL students during the 2021-22 school year. There will be a charge for any a le cart items that students choose to purchase.


New this year, students will use there student ID card to scan at every breakfast and lunch time regardless if they are free or getting a le cart items. IDs will be handed out during the first week of school and we will start using them the second week of school. Please remind your child to keep their student IDs on them at all times while at school. We will be providing lanyards for them to hold their IDs.


FREE/Reduced Priced Lunch Applications STILL NEEDED: If you believe you would qualify for Free/Reduced Priced breakfast and lunch, PLEASE still fill out the application and turn it in. Even though breakfast and lunch will be free for all students this school year, these applications still need to be filled out in order for our school to receive funding. Please contact us if you have any questions or want assistance in filling out an application. Below is the link to fill it out online.

PACT

Hello MGMS Mustangs and Families,


Our PACT kick-off meeting for the year is: Monday, October 18th

Location: MGMS Media Center: enter through Main Office doors and up the stairs

Time: 6:30-8:00pm
