FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Welcome to Term 3
As I visit classrooms it is wonderful to see that the children have settled back into school routine after the holidays and are already producing some amazing work. Term 3 is always a busy one, with many events to look forward to. Please continue to refer to the electronic school calendar, school website, school Facebook, PCPS Instagram and newsletter for important information which is regularly shared with the community.
Bishop's Visit
Usually every five years, the Archbishop or his delegate makes a formal visit to every Parish of the Archdiocese in Perth including parish schools.
We are honoured to have Bishop Don Sproxton visiting Our Lady of the Mission Parish from Friday 12-14 August. He will visit PCPS on Friday 12 August and enjoy morning tea with the staff and a tour of the school.
On Sunday 14 August, 11.00am Bishop Don will celebrate a special mass for PCPS families and parishioners. Children, parents and staff will be invited with the mass readings, offertory, collections and welcomers as well as a special Liturgical Dance performed by some of our senior students.
After mass there will be a free delicious Chinese lunch for everyone to enjoy.
To represent our school and to demonstrate our school unity, families are asked to attend with all students wearing the school uniform. Students who attend mass in winter uniform will be able to wear free dress to school on Monday 15th August.
I would really appreciate if all families can make a special effort in welcoming Bishop Don to our parish and show our support for our Parish Priests Fathers Cyprian and Father Francis.
Mary Mackillop
Mary Mackillop is Australia’s first saint. She believed everyone, no matter how rich or poor should have the chance to learn. Mary was canonised a saint and as we celebrate her feast day on 8 August, let us remember some of the words she lived by:
Find happiness in making others happy
Assumption of Mary
On 15 August we celebrate the Assumption of Mary. As a fitting reward for the life she dedicated so wonderfully to God, Mary, the mother of Jesus, was taken up to Heaven, body and soul, when she died. Father Francis will be celebrating mass at 2pm in our school hall on this day and all parents and families are invited to join us.
Prayer Space
Some of our Pre primary children sharing their special prayer space in their classroom with prayers they have written.

DJOOROOBIDINY
After the HUGE success of our Aboriginal Peoples' Exhibition - Djooroobidiny - in 2020, this year we are again holding an exhibition highlighting the work that classes throughout PCPS have completed this year in embedding Aboriginal perspectives into the curriculum.
Earlier in the year, due to uncertainty with possible Covid restrictions, the decision was made to hold a virtual Djooroobidiny Exhibition in 2022 - through a website.
We invite you to spend some time exploring, with your child, our PCPS 2022 Djooroobidiny website, which showcases a huge amount of AMAZING work done by our students and their teachers. Enjoy!

Our 100 Days of school celebrations were a huge success! We counted, danced, built, moved, problem solved, wrote and drew our way through the day with a focus on 100. The children participated in activities across all learning areas and had a wonderful day! Thank you to all parents for the time and effort put into the terrific costumes worn by the children.
Please see some gorgeous photos from our day at the end of the newsletter.

Performing Arts Festival
The 33rd Catholic Schools Performing Arts Festival began last week and will continue throughout August. Padbury Catholic Primary School has students entered in the piano, guitar, percussion and voice solo sections.
We also have the Years 4-6 Choir performing on Thursday 25th August and the Year 6 Drama Group on Wednesday 31st August. There is a lot of excitement building as the children prepare for these performances.
Well done to Alessia Schrader Yr 5, for her excellent report from the adjudicator for her piano solo, ‘Just the Way You Are’ by Bruno Mars. Alessia was the first student to represent PCPS in this year’s festival.
Parents are welcome to attend any session of the Festival for a small fee. Tickets must be pre-purchased from the Spirit of the Arts website https://www.spiritofthearts.com.au/performing-arts-festival/
One Big Voice - Studio Choir
Congratulations to Olivia Cunningham Yr 6, on being selected for the 2022 One Big Voice Studio Choir.
Olivia had to work her way through a rigorous audition process and it is a huge achievement to be selected.
Although there is no big concert for One Big Voice this year, the studio choir will be very busy preparing for other live events and recording the songs for One Big Voice in 2023.
