Edgebrook School Counseling Update
September 2015
About Mrs. Robins
I originally hail from Maine, but I now call Chicago home. After graduating from Boston College with a degree in Human Development, I moved to Chicago, where I taught Pre-K and received my Masters of Science in Education from Dominican University. It was during my time in the classroom that I discovered my passion for supporting students’ social-emotional wellness and decided to pursue a career in school counseling. After receiving my Masters of Education in School Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I worked as a counselor, supporting seniors as they navigated through the college admissions process.
I am passionate about working with students and families to ensure success in and out of the classroom. I am thrilled to join the Edgebrook family as the School Counselor, and I look forward to engaging with the community!
The Role of the School Counselor
At Edgebrook, I will be providing a range of social-emotional support for students in all grade levels. This will include individual counseling, small groups, and classroom guidance. In the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades, I will be teaching a course called Growing Young Leaders Seminar (GYLS). This course will focus on goal setting, communication, leadership, and career exploration.
