Hello Ben Franklin Families!
Thank you to all those joined as members, volunteered to help or provided food to support our students and faculty. We have about 135 parent members out of about 850 students. Here is what your PTA has accomplished this school year:
Aug =Back to school night, membership sign up, and our 1 Fundraiser of magazine sales
Sept = School pictures, Added a Facebook group for parents and staff to receive info or reminders
Oct = Vision Screenings with the Lions Club and Nurse Chelsea
Hospitality and volunteers provided snacks and food for parent teacher conferences Oct and Feb, Nov. Thanksgiving coffee and cookies, in April an Administrative Asst. lunch for all the support staff, and May Teacher Appreciation Week gifts of thanks and end of year staff luncheon.
Jan =Reflections contest – “Heroes Around Me” 4 student entries for Ben Franklin and all placed.
Where does the PTA fundraising money go/do?
This year we provided $100 to every certified staff member to use for their classroom or students as they needed. We helped the school purchase new posters and character banners for the hallways. Field trips like gr 6 to the Russian Kaleidoscopes, gr 8 Science trips, and a leadership retreat for Student Leadership. Student fun activity day April 4th after school. Student of the Week winner awards; t- shirts, gift cards, and this year we added all students nominated in each grade would be re- entered to win a book of their choice each quarter. We helped Student leadership buy food to try out a concession stand for wrestling, and a girls and boys basketball game. Images of the world assembly experience. 15 Virtual Reality Headsets were also provided. Every 3 years, PTA funds a BFMS tradition to take the entire school to a May Redhawks game.

BF PTA Meetings are every other month for less than 1 hour. Aug, Oct, Dec, Feb, April, June

New Incoming President= Ellen Schonteich
New Incoming Vice- President= Shawn Carlson
New Membership /Volunteer Coordinators= Jamie Dougherty and Kate Fluge
Treasurer = Mrs. Pat Roth (BF Art teacher and parent) = checks and balances
Secretary = Mrs. Angela Bachman (BF parent) = meeting agendas and minutes
Magazine Fundraiser = Mrs. Robin Lawrence
Hospitality = open position(s)- organizes staff food events, contacts volunteers to drop off needed food items, sets up as needed.
City PTA Meeting Rep= open position -1 hour a month and report back to BF PTA
