Message from the State Director
As I begin my new role as the SkillsUSA Michigan State Director, I cannot help but wonder what this school year will look like and how SkillsUSA and SkillsUSA Michigan will be able to make a meaningful impact in the lives and careers of our members. I know I have a lot of questions and I am certain you have a lot of questions too. I will do my best to share with you any information as it becomes available. In the meantime, I am here to support you and your students. Please feel free to reach out via email: cwarning@emich.edu, voice call via office phone: 734-785-3888, or text via google voice: 734-985-0270. Currently, I am working in the office Mondays and Wednesdays and virtually from home the remaining days of the week. We are making final plans for our fall activities and hope to get more information out to you as soon as we can. There are going to be challenges this year and I hope we will work together to make the best of the situation and offer meaningful experiences for our students and members.
I apologize that this first communication is long, but wanted to give you as much information as I had available. Please review this communication for upcoming events and deadlines and refer to our website for ongoing updates. miskillsusa.org

Community Service Projects
Shiawassee RESD Community Service Highlight
This chapter's Electrical and Auto students participated in a card making campaign to make cards for Cardz for Kidz https://cardzforkidz.org/. In total the group produced 90 cards with a positive message in hopes of brightening the recipient’s day. These cards will be distributed by the organization to children with long term stays in the hospital. Way to go to these compassionate students for brightening someone's day! Keep up the great work! See more pictures from this event by following this link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ZA8GrWNwKhNrMFCcpmz3HLBGHXmVZAoO?usp=sharing
Community Service Projects are an important way to instill good citizenship in our members. They will also be great chapter building activities during this time of limited large gatherings as a way to bring chapter members together to work in small teams to accomplish the goals of your community service project. Have your chapter’s Community Service Project highlighted in the SkillsUSA Michigan newsletter and on the SkillsUSA Michigan web site! Send a short summary of your project and any photo(s) to cwarning@emich.edu. Your Community Service Project will be added to the next newsletter and posted on our web site and Facebook page for all to see!
