Be Peace, Teach Peace

Our theme at Lake Air Montessori this year is "Be Peace, Teach Peace". We will discuss ways to make the world a more peaceful place, feature events that celebrate peace, or introduce you to remarkable people who are creating peace in the world today. We encourage you to share these ideas with your family, your children, your students, your neighbors, even with strangers. If we all work at it, we can make the world a more peaceful place—one person at a time. Take a moment to explore teachpeacenow.com for resources and ideas.

AVID Strategy of the Week

Each week we are going to highlight an AVID strategy you can incorporate into your classroom or parents can discuss with students at home.

This week we are going to focus on backwards mapping of upcoming projects in the classroom and at home.

Anytime your students have a major project or major test coming up, have them write down the due date in their planner. Then help them through the process of brainstorming the components of the project, the time they need to complete these components, and their goal of when they should have each component done. Students should take into account any extracurricular activities that will prevent them from devoting time to a project.
