A Message from the Principal's Desk:
Dear Kingsway Community,
We hope you have a wonderful holiday with your family and friends, and we look forward to a wonderful new year with your children in 2021! We are certainly proud of the students' ability to transition into the fully virtual setting for the month of December, but we are even more proud of their level of involvement with a few school-wide events/opportunities. As a school, we had many students participate in creating our virtual holiday card for local children who spent their holiday in a hospital. The virtual card was sent to Dupont Pediatrics and Voorhees Pediatric Facility. Please click here to view the Virtual Holiday Cards. Also, our annual December 23rd Ugly Sweater Day continued to be a hit even in the virtual setting. Students lit up the Zoom calls with holiday ugliness and brought a few more smiles to those screens. January provides a much needed fresh start for all of us. I wish you and your child nothing but success over the next six months. Please work with your student and his/her teachers to establish some goals for the unofficial start to the second half of the school year. We look forward to seeing our Dragons live and in person on January 11th.
Sincerely,
Brian Tonelli

Inappropriate Use of School-Issued Devices: Please note that school-issued Chromebooks are to be used for school work only, and students are not to access inappropriate sites. This has been a concern as of late; we have tracking software for each of our computers and are easily able to detect foul play. Students are subject to the discipline code if they are using the school-issued devices inappropriately. Please discuss the importance of using technology responsibly with your child.
Renaissance Program: Please encourage your child to complete his/her community service hours/activity involvement log in order to be a part of the Renaissance Program. Students will be asked to submit their log at the end of the marking period. This will initiate the process for being accepted into the program. For more information about the program, click HERE.
#1DragonFamily: During the month of December, the pillar of character we focused on through this program was Citizenship. As an extension activity, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, if students are interested and comfortable, we are asking them to drop off any donations to Kings Things in downtown Swedesboro. They will be open from 10-4 and are willing to accept any non-perishable can goods, lightly used books, or clothes (they must have the tags in them). A Renaissance hour of community service will be granted if students choose to participate.
Marking Period Grades: Keep in mind that the marking period will end on February 2nd, and report cards will be available online on February 8th. Conferences with your child's team may occur Tuesdays and Thursdays and should be scheduled through our Guidance Department. Please do not hesitate to contact the Guidance Department at any time if you would like to schedule a conference.
Picture Retakes: Picture retakes will be on Thursday, January 14th from 12:00-4:00 p.m. We will send out a sign up genius for those students in Cohort V and Cohort A. Cohort B will have pictures retaken during the school day.
Health and PE: During 8th period on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday’s, the Health & Physical Education Department will be holding an optional, virtual, movement based class intended for those students who want/need a little more physical movement in their daily routine. This class will consist of virtual activities, and a friendly, supportive, social environment that will help promote physical, mental and social health and can even win prizes from the school store and extra credit for class. Students can find a link to the optional virtual PE class by clicking on the corresponding button on their Health & Physical Education’s home page of Schoology.
Outreach Sessions to Help Parents: As we continue to navigate the new educational environment due to COVID, Kingsway Regional School District recognizes the importance of supporting our parents during this time as they work to support their children. Kingsway will be offering free, virtual outreach sessions to our parents throughout the 20/21 school year.
Sessions will focus on a number of topics such as Executive Functioning Skills (self-monitoring, planning and prioritizing, task initiation, organization, etc.), Strategies for Success, Adapting to Current Events, and Growth Mindset.
Appointments will be made with our Social & Emotional Learning (SEL) counselor, Ms. Stephanie Atene, who will partner with you and provide you with strategies that may assist with helping students who may be struggling.
Live Streaming: The district will begin live streaming all classes beginning on January 11th, 2021. This change has been made in order to best support our students and their academic success. Miscellaneous
Jazz Band Guest Speaker: Students in Mr. Massaro's Jazz Band classes enjoyed a clinic with Luis Ozoria. Mr. Ozoria is a trumpet player based out of Glassboro, New Jersey and is an avid jazz and classical performer across all of New Jersey as well as the greater-Philadelphia and New York areas. Mr. Ozoria talked with the students about ways to improve as musicians, shared his wisdom from the field of music performance, and provided insight on how to become lifelong learners.
Clubs: We have 9 different virtual clubs available. Please click HERE for all of the clubs and Schoology codes for those clubs.
