I placed an application to School and Teacher Leadership Academy 29: Practices that Support Meaningful Change, Develop Healthy School Cultures, Build Trust & Increase Student.
June 13-16, 2016
This Academy will focus on practices that research and reality tell us are effective in moving schools forward with regard to student learning. Each of these practices also helps to build a strong school culture to support student learning. In this academy, we will examine effective practices of change leadership including the role of building leaders (teachers included) in making the changes necessary to build a culture for success. We will examine the relationship between the structures you have in your building that support the culture that exists versus the structures you may want to consider to support the culture that you want and need.
Additionally, we will look at key components that change people’s practices, attitudes, traditions, beliefs in schools, and examine effective collaborative practices that build trust within schools. We will discuss practical ways to think about doing this hard work along with everything else that you are being held accountable for without “killing your people.” Strategies for managing change in a highly visible, accountability-driven, high-
stakes setting will be shared and discussed.
I know some of you may not be able to attend given other plans, responsibilities and obligations in June. However, if you are available and willing please let me know as soon as possible!
