A School to Emulate

Memorial Elementary Bobcat Bulletin 9-7-15 through 9-11-15

Short Week!

We had a great 2nd week. Sara and I continue to see fantastic instruction around the building. You are collecting data with BOY assessments and keeping students engaged, several teachers were pulling guided reading groups, data-driven planning meetings, using Total Physical Response (TPR) with math concepts, students are highly engaged during specials, everyone is stepping up to help out where there is a need. Let's keep it up! We are going into a short week and as you know, short weeks sometimes feel longer than regular weeks. Be mindful that students have been out of the routine for 3 days and may need a little "extra love."

Thank you for implementing our school-wide instructional initiatives with fidelity. See the information below for start dates.

Guided Reading - Tuesday (9/8)

Intervention & Enrichment (I & E) - Monday (9/14)

English Language Development (ELD) - Monday (9/21)

Intervention & Enrichment (I & E) - Tuesday (9/8)

AVID Fridays will begin on Friday, October 2nd. This will give students plenty of time to develop a system for success.

Due to district expectations Michelle Janah's title will be updated to Intervention Specialist. She will continue to support academic and social needs campus-wide.

Sara and I encourage you to join us and the City of Plano at the Love Where You Live Parade on Saturday, September 12th from 10 - 11 am. Students will be encouraged to make banners, decorate bikes, scooters, skateboards, etc. and walk the neighborhood with a police escort. We will meet in the parking lot at Memorial and I will be leading the chant.

Be sure to order you PPA Spirit Wear. You will be free to wear your spirit shirt with jeans on Mondays once they arrive. Sample sizes and styles will be available in the lounge on Tuesday (9/8) and Wednesday (9/9) ONLY!

If you haven't already joined the PTA it's not too late. The PTA supports our school by providing meals to staff, gifts of appreciation, field trips and assemblies for students, author visits, and wish list items for staff, and so much more. Membership is only $10 and all members will receive a delicious funnel cake on September 15th.

Reminder that the cafeteria is now open to visitors. If you get questions please remind parents that they are invited to celebrate special occasions and eat lunch with their children.

Enjoy the long weekend!
