Clearspring Middle School

April 2017

Principal's Message

We have just returned from Spring Break, and are anticipating that we will be working hard at learning in the next few months.

Just prior to spring break we hosted our second Portfolio night. We are impressed with the level of our students’ commitment to their work when they know their parents (or other adults) will be coming to school to talk with them about it. We value our partnership with parents as we work together to help students learn. When we work together to encourage students to learn, the children in our care are the ones who benefit.

What we've done at CMS

March was a month of fundraising in our school. Several of our Grade 7 classes had a “Do Something” project. Some volunteered their time at agencies in Steinbach, and some organized fundraisers to support various agencies. Our MAC (Making A Change) group organized a dance on the last Friday of classes as a fundraiser for Soup’s On. We will be donating over $700.00 and hundreds of food items. Two of the core competencies that we are working on in our school division are character and citizenship. Our students’ enthusiastic participation in supporting these agencies demonstrates that we (families, community, and school) are making some good progress in helping our kids develop character and citizenship.

What's coming up at CMS

Our feature event in April is the Grade 6 Spring Musical, Oliver, on April 26th and 27th. We are looking forward to seeing and hearing our students perform. Our Grade 7 students will be going to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, and the Grade 7 Band will be attending a beginner band festival.
