Chromebook Apps
Newsela
Newsela pairs nonfiction text with reading comprehension and is appropriate for grades 2-12. Using Newsela, you can bring current events to life, and students can choose the reading level that is just right for them. Newsela offers articles written in 5 different levels, gives an opportunity for students to reflect on the article, and allows students to take a quiz on the article to measure comprehension.
By signing up for a Newsela account, you can also do other things like create your own questions and writing prompts to share with students, curate your own collection in your Newsela Binder, and share articles/content with your students.
Action Story (elementary)
Action Story is a free Chrome extension designed for elementary age students that helps students practice English comprehension and writing. Students choose the path the story character takes based on the clues in the game. It's a simple, interactive game type extension that students are sure to enjoy.
iPad Apps
iPads are ready
After a long wait, the iPads are now ready to go. We have 15 here and ready, and we will add an additional 10 ASAP. I am listing the apps that are currently available. If you have some that you would like for me to add, please let me know. The iPad cart will stay downstairs in Mrs. McCutcheon's room unless it is being updated.
