The Holocaust
Leigha Skarzinski Academic 4
The Holocaust was a cruel period of time during 1941-1945. The Holocaust was the systemic, bureaucratic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of six million Jews by the Nazi regime and its collaborators. The Nazis believed that Germans were "racially superior" and that Jews , deemed "inferior" were a threat to the German racial community. During the Holocaust, German authorities also targeted other groups because of their perceived "racial inferior" : the disabled, and some Slavic peoples. Other groups were persecuted on political, ideological, and behavioral grounds, among them Communists, Socialists, Jehovah's Witnesses, and homosexuals.
Millions of Soviet prisoners of war were murdered. Between two and tree million Soviet prisoners of war were murdered or died of starvation, disease, neglect, or maltreatment. As Nazi tyranny spread across Europe, the Germans and their collaborators persecuted and murdered millions of other people. The Nazis targeted the Jews because the Nazis believed that Germans deemed "inferior," were a threat to the German racial community. The Nazis also thought the Germans were"racial superior". The Jews were terrified that the Nazis were going to kill them.
The Holocaust was a terrible war, and a mass killing of the Jews. Millions of Jews were killed by Nazi regime and its collaborators. Germans were killed by the Nazis, because the Nazis thought the Germans were an alien threat. The crimes committed by the Nazis during the Holocaust was cruel and heart breaking. Hopefully nothing like this happens again.
