2020-2021 LEARNING PLAN
Our Lady of Fatima Learning Plan
Our Lady of Fatima's 2020-2021 LEARNING PLAN UPDATE
There have been many calls and questions about Our Lady of Fatima's Return to Learning Plan. As local school districts roll out their plans, we are finalizing our plans here too, and will have the final draft released within the next week (pending approval from the CSO). However, we do have some answers to some of the most important questions that are being asked. Please read our Q & A below for more details:
Q: Does Our Lady of Fatima plan to reopen the campus, and if so, when is the first day of school?
A: YES! Right now, Our Lady of Fatima is making plans to start school face-to-face. The first day of school is slated for August 12. Our final calendar will be released with our final Return to Learning plan in the next week. The ONLY way the plan to start classes face-to-face would change is an executive order from the Governor or from CSO. With many schools moving to online, virtual learning the first semester, we plan to start Face-to-face until we are absolutely told we have to do otherwise!
Q: I am worried about the health and safety of my child. Is the campus adequately preparing for the return of students to ensure their health and safety?
A: The health and safety of our students and staff is our absolute #1 priority. We know that right now it has to be health and safety over EVERYTHING else, but we also know that students and families NEED school! Hours upon hours have been spent working out every last detail for our campus to ensure all health guidelines and regulations are being followed in order to maintain as safe, healthy, and clean campus as we can. All of these guidelines will be outlined in our Return to Learning document, but some of the highlights include:
- sanitation stations at each entrance
- implemented handwashing and classroom disinfection schedule 3X a day
- self-contained PreK-4th grade classrooms
- Middle School teachers rotate as much as possible rather than the kids rotating
- outdoor classroom and lunch options weather permitting
- separate morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up locations for Prek/Kinder and 1st-8th
- staggered dismissal times for lower grades
- nightly disinfection of the campus
- required masks and social distancing in common areas
- class sizes capped at 10 for K-8th (PreK is capped at 12 right now, but will be split into two 10 student classes if the need is there)
Q: Will parents have the option to enroll as an Our Lady of Fatima scholar, but still do remote learning at home?
A: Yes, our staff is preparing for all students to learn in whatever capacity or format parents feel most comfortable. Options to attend face-to-face, remote learn from home, or a hybrid of both will be available within the guidelines outlined in our Return to Learning plan.
Q: Is tuition assistance still available?
A: Yes, we still have tuition assistance available. However, there are limited funds, so the faster families get registered in FACTS and RENWEB the better!
Q: Will students and staff be required to wear masks?
A: Students and staff ages 10 and up will be required to wear masks at all times. In the classroom, desks will be positioned apart for health and safety. Masks will be kept on as often as possible, even in younger grades. ALL STUDENTS AND STAFF, regardless of age, WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR MASKS IN COMMON AREAS.
Q: Can I wait to enroll until my local district has made a final plan?
A: Yes, we always have open enrollment, but we are capping classes at 10 kids per class this year. With most districts moving to virtual, the demand for in-class, face-to-face will go up, but we will cap each class at 10 kids to ensure health and safety for all our families.
The bottom line for everyone is we know that times are changing and uncertain. One thing we promise is that as long as we are allowed, we will be open for our families. We will take extra measures and precautions to be safe, and we will work HARD for you!
