Family Cougar Connect
Welcome Back to School!
Dear Valued Clyde Hill Elementary Families,
Welcome to the 2022-2023 School year at Clyde Hill Elementary School! We hope you and your family had a joyful, relaxing, and safe summer. We are eager to be able to welcome our learners back to school for this upcoming school year. Clyde Hill is a lively school that celebrates and affirms all students! Our learners are the reason why we come to work every day! We take our role in partnering to helping all students learn, grow, and thrive in our school community very seriously.
Last year, was a year like no other in the world of education. Our learning community returned to full in person learning with many safety guidelines in place. Student engaged in new learning, re-learned many skills, and how to be in school full days with distancing guidelines. Our cougars did a phenomenal job at taking this on and shining bright each and every day.
While many of us are looking forward for things to return to “normal,” we here in our district and at our school are looking ahead and embracing the opportunities this pandemic is giving us. This year our goal is to continue developing relationship with you and your child while supporting our students to be global citizens in our ever-changing world. We will achieve this through fostering a learning environment that prioritized social emotional well-being and investigating the world through the lens of literacy, math, science, and social studies.
We believe that in order to realize our districts vision of, affirming and inspiring each and every student to learn and thrive as creators of their future world, we must engage our students in being curious about themselves, their community, and the world. We look to elevate our students and the skills, knowledge, and values they bring into our shared community and inspire them to be creators of our future world.
With your continued support, love, and commitment to our community we know our cougars will have a joyful school year.
Thank you for being part of this journey with us, we look forward to listening, learning and growing with you.
In Partnership,

Nutrition Services Updates 2022-2023 As we prepare for the reopening of school on September 1, 2022, families should anticipate that free meals will no longer be available for all students attending a BSD school. With the expiration of USDA waivers at the end of this school year, Nutrition Services will return to traditional methods of payment for school meals (free, reduced price or paid). Please click this link to see what prices for lunch will be for this school year https://bsd405.org/services/nutrition-services/pay-for-meals/
Look for the 2022-2023 application for school meal benefits online on the Free & Reduced Price Meals webpage by August 15, 2022. New: Students determined to be eligible for reduced price school meals will be able to receive lunch for free. Due to new state funding, the $0.40 copay for a reduced price lunch will no longer be collected. Students eligible for reduced price school meals will continue to receive breakfast for free in schools that offer the program.

Kinder camp will take place on August 31, 2021 at Clyde Hill. Families will need to sign up in advance for a slot as we are trying to host smaller groups. A Sign-Up Genius link will be out soon for parents to sign up.
Incoming Kinder Cougars will have the opportunity to meet out Kinder teachers, tour the building and engage in fun getting-to-know-you activities. Kinder camp allows us to get to know your child a bit more, and helps us with Kindergarten placement.
