A Note from the Principal's Desk

Week of March 2, 2015

This time of year we can get bogged down in all of the tasks that are upon us. As teachers you deal with the necessary pressures of being in the most important profession in the world. Trust me, as your principal I can relate. As stated in the quote above there is no one better for the challenge than you! We are in this together. No I's are in TEAMWORK. As individuals faced with the pressures we have upon us, we are weak. But, as a team we are mighty. We are 2185.

Choose your thoughts; they become words. Choose your words;they become actions. Choose your actions; they become habits.

Test Talks

Grade level chairs have been working with you to develop the Mastery of Standards forms that will be used for test talks with students and parents. Grade level chairs will gather concensus on how and when to complete the forms. The best way to complete test talks is to schedule a few each day while students complete independent practice. These should be complete no later than March 13, 2015.

March Instructional Focus - Vocabulary

During walk throughs we will look for the use of the language of the standards and use of academic vocabulary instructional strategies. Your word wall or TIP chart should be posted and teachers should facilitate student centered instruction allowing students to use vocabulary.

In addition the use of assessment data should be evident as you give students quality feedback and ways to improve.

TKES Surveys

Expect for 2 of your classes to be surveyed Wednesday, Thursday, and/or Friday. The schedule will be provided in a separate email.

Thanks for all that you do!
