We R Charles

Back to School Information

A Note from Mrs. Phillips

Dear Charles Families:

It's finally that time of year; back to school! We are in an unprecedented time and some of you are joining us virtually and some are in person. Please know we have been working tirelessly to prepare for this unknown. Thank you for trusting us with your child's education. We know it's going to take some time for our teachers to become familiar with virtual, live, and in person instruction. I have no doubt that they will give you their personal best. I just ask that you give all of us a little grace as we move forward and figure this out with new stipulations, fears, anxieties, and practices. Our high expectations of providing your family with high quality education is still our top priority.

It will be different on day one when all of you return, with masks, and no hugs. Please begin to talk with your students about how we can socially connect without physically connecting. I'm personally working on some sign language that I can welcome all of our students with, every morning, because that is the best part of my day. I love saying hello to them, by name, and getting that big smile. Please let them know we all will do our best to help them feel safe and loved as we move forward.

I am excited to welcome Becca Amyx to our staff as a new first grade teacher. I would also like to introduce Nancy Spurlock as a long term sub. As many of you know, we are fighting alongside Mrs. Day as she battles cancer. She will be returning soon but until then, Mrs. Spurlock will be helping us in 2nd grade. The rest of our amazing staff will be returning and are working day and night to prepare for day 1!

We are finalizing class lists and have posted them in Power School. Many teachers will begin uploading Dojo to begin making connections. We will have a virtual back to school night this year. This will include videos from our staff, private Google Meets, and phone calls. Please stay connected by following us on Facebook and Dojo.

Please understand we have new rules due to Covid-19. We will not be allowing visitors into the building. Starting on day 1, we ask you to stay in your car and drop off in the two drop off lanes. We will have plenty of staff to assist your child to their classroom. Please make sure your child's teachers knows how they are to get home. (Bus, car line or walker door) Teachers will be calling or setting up Google Meets to obtain this information. More info below.

As always, I'm here if you need anything. I try my best to put things out there on Dojo and Social Media. If there is anything else I can do better, please let me know. You can send a personal message via Dojo, Facebook or Twitter. You may also email me or call the office. That information is found below. Have a great year Chargers!

Be kind, be amazing, and be YOU!
