Virtual Spirit Week
Distance Learning Information
We are on Week 7 of distance learning. Teachers have gone above and beyond to create a sense of new normal for our students at home. We are utilizing multiple virtual learning platforms - Google Meet and Zoom. Some teachers prefer Google Meet when working one-on-one or with small groups. Most teachers prefer Zoom when having whole class lessons and meetings.
Teachers have made it their mission to ensure that students are not missing out on their annual KCS celebrations. These are the events we have held "at home:"
- Spirit Week
- Earth Day/Green Week
- Arbor Day
- Poem in Your Pocket Day
- Teacher Appreciation Week
- Mileage Mayhem

Graduation Proposal
KCS will hold a "drive-in" graduation ceremony for students to receive their diplomas. The following procedures will be followed:
Logistical:
- The podium and two tables with students' awards and diplomas will be placed on the sidewalk in between the two sets of cafeteria doors (approximately).
- Parking spots in the front facing the podium will be labeled with a number for each 8th-grade student. There will be two cars allowed per graduate family.
- Staff who would like to attend the ceremony may do so in their car(s) or socially distance themselves along the wall of the school (behind the tables).
- This will not be a public attendance event - it is invite-only
- A program will be printed for each family and will be distributed with the diplomas.
Ceremony:
- Graduates will have the opportunity to have their photos taken (before or after) diploma ceremony
- Mrs. Mott will announce the graduates' names- they will exit their car and come up to the table for their diploma. There will be no handshakes or handing of the diploma, but I would like a BOE representative to be near the podium with me.
- The diploma ceremony will be broadcast via Facebook Live.
Pre-Recorded Footage:
- Academic and Community awards will be recorded by the teacher/group member and be sent to the recipient only. A list of the award recipients will be included at the end of the "Graduation Video."
- The "Graduation Video" will be pre-recorded and will include remarks from Mrs. Mott, 8th-grade essayists, Presidential awards, and photos and a brief message from each 8th-grade student. This video will be sent to all families to view either before or after the diploma ceremony.
