Sebastian River Times
October 2021
Dear SRMS Families,
We have had a great start this year. The students have returned to school with an obvious commitment to learning and success. Our faculty remains skillful as well as caring. The school facilities provide a great environment for learning. October 8 will be the last day in the first nine weeks and Report Cards will be accessible in FOCUS on October 15.
Please continue to be an active role in your child’s educational and personal growth. Every family should have a FOCUS account to stay informed about your child’s academic progress. It is an online web-based program that can be accessed from a computer and the FOCUS app can be downloaded to handheld devices. Visit our district website at www.indianriverschools.org , under the “I Want To” section to the right select “Add Student or Register for Focus Account, then follow the instructions for registration.
After school activities are in full swing at SRMS. There are many clubs and activities available for your child to be involved in at school. I would like to thank the many teachers who give of their time to make these activities available. If your child is in Advanced Science classes, you should have seen paperwork regarding the Science Fair projects and deadlines. Please work with your child to ensure your child is meeting the deadlines for these projects. Simply check their science grade to see if they are up to date. There are many requirements for the project and our Science Department has planned an easy-to-follow schedule for students.
A reminder to parents that the School District of Indian River County implemented an ID Badge program this year. Attached in the newsletter is a letter from SDIRC explaining the program in detail. In short, ID Badges are required to get on and off school buses, worn visibly while at school, scanned for attendance, Media Center book check-out, and in the cafeteria line for lunches and snack. Replacement badges are available for $5 from Mrs. Giordano in the Guidance Office.
Sincerely,
Todd Racine, Principal
CONGRATULATIONS!
