Swimming, Flip Flops, and All Things Summer
Well hello there AMAZING Patriots!
Oh my goodness I have so many questions to ask you when you get back to PHJH!
Did you get to go swimming in a lake or a pool or both?
Where did you go on vacation? Did you go out of state, or stay in Utah and have a staycation?
Did you catch any fish or lightning bugs? ( I know currently there are no lightning bugs in Utah, but if you ever go to Kansas, they are everywhere and they are magical!)
I hope whatever your family does in the summer brings you joy, and gives you some time to unwind and enjoy a healthy dose of sunshine and whatever is in the Ice Cream Man's truck.
If you are new to PHJH, we wanted to welcome you to the family, and make sure you know how excited we all are to see your beautiful faces in the fall. Once school starts, students and parents will get a weekly newsletter that comes out on Sundays. We encourage our parents AND students to use the newsletter to make sure you are aware of all of the happenings each week.
So far this Summer, we had our first ever Success over the Summer program, the premiere of Frozen and Lion King, and we are working really hard to get the student store all set up to make sure we are ready to roll as soon as the year starts. Parents and students, if you have a phone you are going to want to keep an eye on the newsletters for information on downloading the PBIS application to your phone. If you don't have a phone, no problem, we will give the students time to access the student store on school Chromebooks to see how many points they have saved up, and make purchases for the upcoming week.
Stay safe and make sure to put your electronic screens down and apply sunscreen often with your remaining summer days!
As Always Patriots,
We love you!

Summer Happenings
Summer Success Program
The program went for two weeks and gave students an opportunity to learn some of the first quarter academic skills in English, Math, and Science as well as get a practice run at the Junior High. Students studied fractions, argument writing, and did lots of experimenting with the Scientific Method (some of which included building a rat maze)!
The pilot program went so well, we are looking at ways to expand the program next year to support a larger group of students. We ended the two weeks of learning with a trip to the Aquarium.
