Define
A pulley is designed to support movement of a cable or belt along its circumference. Pulleys are used in a variety of ways to lift loads, apply forces, and to transmit power.

Mechanical advantage
To in increase the mechanical advantage of a pulley, increase the number of support ropes. The mechanical advantage of a pulley equals the number of support ropes.
