Monterey County Office of Education is hosting the training June 15 through the 17th from 8:30 to 3:30.
LCAP Goal 3 - Safety
Soledad School District Active Transportation Grant In Partnership with the County Health Department
Over the past two weeks, students completed a walk ability checklist survey, took a survey home for parents to complete, and also participated for 2 consecutive days with an oral survey to respond and record tallies on how students came to school (walk, bicycle, school bus, carpool, family vehicle, transit, or other ) and how students would be going home from school. Students in Digital Art and VIsual Arts classes participated in designing posters to promote Safe Routes to School. Teams of students and/or individual students creative and colorful drawings were submitted to the County Health Department as a part of a contest.
With support and time devoted by Jessica Perez, County Health Department Coordinator, and the Math, Social Studies and Arts Departments, Main Street student and parent survey feedback has been collected to enhance traffic safety and active transportation information to support safe environments for pedestrians and bicyclists while encouraging students and parents to use active modes of transportation.

Nominations for CSEA Classified Employees For Employees of the Year
To be eligible for the nomination, a classified employee must meet these minimum requirements. Be a current employee, be a rank and file employee, not management or supervisory position, and have a minimum of five years of service in the nomination category; there is no minimum FTE.
Categories include Child Nutrition (cook, cafeteria worker), Maintenance, Operations and Facilities (technology support, custodian, electrician, carpenter, groundskeeper, mechanic), Transportation (bus driver, dispatcher, mechanic), Para- Educator and Instructional Assistant (classroom assistant, instructional aide, library assistant), Office and Technical (secretary, attendance clerk, accountant, network engineer, programmer) and Support Services and Security (campus security monitor, health aide, community outreach assistant).
Nominations for Teacher of the Year
- Fully credentialed teacher
- Teachers of adults who provide instruction in the same curriculum as those who teach in elementary or secondary grades
- Instructors who have some administrative responsibilities but for whom teaching students is the primary responsibility
- Teachers who are available to fulfill ambassadorial duties during the years of service
- Teachers who have been in the classroom for more than eight years
Nomination forms are in staff mailboxes and are due to be return to Glenda Woodrow no later than Thursday, February 27th.
