A group of 30 seventh grade Mustangs recently headed to the Museum of Science and Industry after completing STEM Extension Projects in the Media Center! These 7th graders were selected to enrich their STEM learning at MSI by completing authentic medical tests using professional lab tools!
Students at Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School (OLHMS) are participating in the school's annual Service Learning Day on April 28, volunteering their time and efforts to impact their community in a positive way. The activities throughout the day included volunteering at nearby parks, collecting food for a food drive, assisting at the local library, and visiting District 123 elementary schools to read to younger students.
Last Thursday, fourth grade classes went on a field trip to Naper Settlement. With our new TCI social studies curriculum in place, fourth grade students have been learning all about the different regions of the United States. They have also learned and read about their own state, Illinois, and what it was like in past.
Kolmar students and staff really are wise! They are also extremely grateful to our PTA for allowing them the opportunity to show their wisdom through the game show, Wheel of Wisdom. Everyone had such a great time at our Wheel of Wisdom assembly.

On Thursday, April 27th, Sward hosted its annual Career Day. Sward Eagles were introduced to a variety of occupations and learned how education ties into these various career options.
Hometown School provides an inclusive environment for students in special education, while allowing students with disabilities to participate in encore classes such as PE, art, music and library alongside their non-disabled peers. Reverse inclusion is the opposite.
With the start of the new month comes a new monthly PBIS focus. This month, we are learning about confidence. Confidence is being sure of yourself and your abilities. People who are confident know they can count on themselves and their skills, use positive self-talk, and aren't afraid to be who they are.
Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 is launching its 2023 Summer School Programs from June 12th to June 29th and July 10th to 13th at Kolmar School, offering a variety of educational and innovative enrichment classes for students in PreK-8th grade.
