Common Formative Assessments

Just a reminder...

Next year we will have Common Formative Assessments (CFAs) for Reading, Math, and Writing. In an effort to take advantage of our time during school closure, we will begin to develop these Common Formative Assessments during post planning. Please plan to meet with your "new" PLC teams (some teams have changed) to begin developing these assessments during the two post-planning days. Please share your calendar invites with the Admin team.

We will discuss this in more detail in our staff meeting on Friday, May 22nd.

Future Planning

Just a reminder, I still need your feedback and input.

As we prepare for next year and the possibility of digital learning, I would like everyone to start thinking out what our "new" normal could look like. We have a great opportunity to try new things, but before we put anything in place, I would like everyone's feedback and input. Please begin brainstorming the following things:

  • How could we run effective small groups with digital learning?
  • How can we confer with students one-on-one with digital learning?
  • What would a typical teacher schedule look like?
  • What are some high-leverage strategies we could implement online to help us continue to move our students to the next level?
  • Are there ways we can make online learning more engaging and exciting for students?

We have begun to brainstorm some of these items, but please feel free to share your ideas on our Stormboard. I have added sections with these questions.

Remind Text Messages

Please make sure you are signed up for our staff Remind text messages. Please make sure you are checking these regularly. You may need to turn on the notifications. In the event of an emergency or last-minute reminders, this is how I will communicate with the staff. Please make sure you are receiving these.

The directions to sign up are listed below.

I sent two messages via remind indicating someone was sending out SPAM emails that appeared to be coming from my account. Ms. Varner has blocked that email address, but hackers are crafty.

If you receive an email that seems strange, please double-check the email address it is coming from. DO NOT RESPOND if the email address is NOT an MCS account. Many people responded to the last spam email and that is how they know you are a "real" person and they will continue to communicate with you.

If you see an email address from me with an it is FAKE. Please see the example picture below.

Staff Shout Outs... (please submit shout-outs by 3pm)

1. Raquel

You have gone above and beyond communicating with parents, being available for teachers and just going the extra mile. Packing the building and being so positive. Thanks for everything you do.
