Your response to this question is pivotal in determining whether you hear "Welcome to the team" or "We've decided to move a different direction". In my experience with interviews, this was always the hardest question for me until I started speaking the truth instead of telling people what I thought they wanted to hear. What is your elevator speech? How do we help kids develop their elevator speech?

Work Based Learning Continuum

As part of the K-12 Career Curriculum and Perkins V, schools are now required to track and report WBL experiences that students receive from schools. CTE programs report at the end of the year by uploading data into CTEIS.


What we need to do as a CTE building:

  1. Develop a robust list of experiences that our students are exposed to
  2. Calendar all of the WBL experiences and deadlines
  3. Classify each experience according to level
  4. Evaluate where the strengths are and where the gaps are
  5. Adjust/Expand practice so CTE experiences are rich with #3's and #4's
