Principal's Corner
Greetings Westchester Families,
WE are literally moving and grooving. Thank you for your support of the Move-A-Thon Fundraiser. You still have time to move and donate! Every bit of support is sincerely appreciated. Visit the fundraiser's website for more information.
Next week is a big week for the City School's of Decatur as we prepare to end the 2nd term on Friday, October 30th. Report Cards will be available to parents via Infinite Campus on November 12th. We're proud of what our scholars have accomplished so far.
As we prepare for the 3rd term, we want you to know that we're working to achieve a greater balance between screen time and off-screen activities. Therefore, our outstanding teachers are embedding different approaches to instruction. Please see the update below. Also, check in with teachers if you have any questions.
We have quite a treat planned for students on Wednesday, October 28th. I hope you make plans for your child(ren) to participate in the Virtual Ned Show. It's an incredibly interactive show that reinforces positive character traits through the demonstration of yoyo tricks and other fascinating presentations. More specific details are available in classroom newsletters.

The tenacity I have witnessed during these unprecedented times is astonishing. I'm proud to lead Westchester as the principal and I appreciate the feedback, support, and commitment from our community. Please continue to share your thoughts as we find our way through these unprecedented times. We're in this together!

Keenville
Dear 1st & 2nd grade Families,
Keenville is an instructional math game that your child has been playing for a few weeks. We are so pleased that students are enjoying and learning from the Keenville activities. Here are some helpful tips to keep in mind as you go forward: Please have your child try to complete one game per week as one game may take more than 20 minutes. Also, earning the beans may bring out the competitive side of your child, but remember that it is not the main focus of what teachers want students to spend time on during Keenville. We appreciate your patience with Keenville as we understand it was a rocky start.
