Help our class

I wrote a grant to bring more flexible seating into our classroom. Our students are wiggly and like to stand while working. These items will help support our kids. The deadline is October 31st! Please share it with family, friends, your business (for a write off) who would be interested in supporting our class. Thank you to the 10 awesome parent donations! We are 167.00 away from our goal!

Phonics long u spellings

Reading We are beginning Unit 3 with our reading curriculum and students will study how animals adapt to their environment.

Math We are working on skip counting by 2s, 5s, 10s, and 100s up to 1,000. We will also be identifying numbers that are 10 more, 10 less, 100 more, and 100 less. Students can get extra math practice at home by logging into Ten Marks. I shared about it in an Instagram video last week.

Technology We will be taking an online Lexile assessment to monitor our progress. This test helps determine our appropriate reading level to help us pick out correct books at the library.

Science We are learning about pumpkins as we celebrate Pumpkin Week. We will also be learning about animal adaptations and their environment.

PE We have PE on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday this week, please dress appropriately.

Library We go to the library on Wednesday, don't forget your book!

Book Fair We will go to the book fair on Thursday. Please send money in a bag or envelope with your child's name if you'd like to them to purchase a book.

Going Home Early

If your child will be leaving early, please send me a quick note or e mail so I can make sure they're packed up if we are in the middle of a lesson. It will really help us out by lessening the interruptions.

What Word Study spelling group is your child in?

We've got 5 different, leveled spelling groups in our class. At the beginning of 2nd grade, students should be at level F. At the end of 2nd grade, students should be at level H. We'll be going over this at our conference next month.

The Word Study test comes home every Friday!
