4th Grade Week of May 3

STAAR Letters
Soon your child will be taking the STAAR Math and STAAR Reading tests.
By working together, we can make your child’s test experience positive and successful.
Here are some suggestions to help your child succeed to their greatest potential:
*Make sure your child gets a good night’s rest.
*Have your child eat a healthy breakfast, packed full of protein!
*Make sure your child arrives at school on time.
*Gently encourage your child to do their best.
We are asking you take a moment to write your child an encouraging note/love letter for each of these testing days. If you write them ahead of time, we will hold both of them for you. We set them out each morning as a surprise.
STAAR Math: Tuesday, May 11th
STAAR Reading: Wednesday, May 12th
On Monday, we are sending home envelopes with two index cards in them, one for the reading STAAR and one for the math STAAR. Please send these letters back with your child by Friday, May 7th and we will deliver them to your student on their testing days.
Please return BOTH letters by Friday, May 7th
CFES 4th Grade Updates
Dear CFES 4th Grade Families,
As we continue to move through the remainder of our curriculum we are also prepping for our 4th grade state assessments. Our goal is working towards mastery! One way that you can help at home is to have your student log on to Education Galaxy for a few minutes each night. Their goal is to complete any assignment with a score of 3 stars in math and reading.
Please be sure your student remembers to bring his/her water bottle and headphones or earbuds to school every day.
Our CFES Great Expectations focus this week will be:
Life Principle: perseverance - ability to persist or continue striving until the end
Quote: "Great works are performed not by strength but by perseverance." -Samuel Johnson
Creekside Forest Creed
I am proud to be a Creekside Forest Cougar.
I come to school each day respecting my teachers,

Go CREEKSIDE!
Please be encouraged to discuss with your child what the CFES Creed and weekly quote and life principle means to them and help make life connections to reinforce.

- solve one and two-step problems using data in whole number, decimal, and fraction form
- identify fixed (set) and variable (varies/changes) expenses
- calculate the difference between the expenses and income to find profit
We continue to challenge our 4th graders to work towards mastery and work to earn 3 stars for all math skills in Education Galaxy.

Writing: We are drafting our biographies for our wax museum project. Students are learning how to take notes from research and develop complete sentences for a purpose.

We have FINISHED our study of vocabulary!! There will be no other units of study. Books will come home and stay home.
Handwriting:
