Classroom Happenings
ELA- Mr. Jones
This past week, we reviewed different types of figurative language devices and began adding figurative language to our blogs. Next week we will continue using figurative language, however we will learn about writing poems. The blogs that students are expected to write will be in the form of poems.
Please note that students who did not complete their Companion Books by the original April 1st due date now have until May 8th to turn it in. Please check the SIS portal grades to see if your student has turned it in or not.

This past week, students learned about the 6 factors of plant growth. We will be shifting to our next unit on weather and climate. Next week the kids will be learning about air masses, fronts, and the effects of fronts.
Please let me know if you need anything. If you’re having a hard time figuring out Google Classroom or ideas on how to keep your kiddo organized, PLEASE let me know! I don’t want to overwhelm you with tips & tricks, so please reach out if you’d like them.
Social Studies- Mrs. Pettid
This week students examined Charlemagne and his effect on the development of modern Europe for our first activity, and the migration of people (often called “Barbarians”) throughout the continent for our second. Charlemagne was a champion for education for all, and those called barbarians brought us useful innovations like pants
Next week, we will be wrapping up Medieval Europe with The Crusades and the development of modern nation-states.The following week, we will begin studying Medieval African Kingdoms.
