LeaderShape Institute® 2017
Apply to be a Cluster Facilitator today!
What is LeaderShape®?
The LeaderShape® Institute challenges participants to lead with integrity while working towards a vision grounded in their deepest values. Participants explore not only what they want to do, but who they want to be. Dynamic, challenging, and exciting, the week is intended to produce a breakthrough in the leadership capacity of participants. Not only does this develop them as individuals, it helps them serve their respective communities and the organizations they will go to lead and serve in the future.
The Temple session
All lodging, meals and transportation are provided to and from Temple University Main Campus to the site.
What is a Family Cluster Facilitator?
As a Cluster Facilitator, you will work with a group of 8-12 students during the session. Due the size and the layout of the LeaderShape® Institute, this group of students will be your "Family Cluster"! This group becomes one of the primary supports for the growth and leadership development of our participants. There are 5-6 Cluster Facilitators and two Lead Facilitators for each session of the LeaderShape® Institute.
Cluster Facilitators will personally facilitate several segments of the curriculum within the small group as well as discuss many of the curriculum components presented to the entire assembly of participants (called "The Learning Community".)
You do not need to be a specialist in leadership theory or in small group facilitation to be effective! In fact, many facilitators are not. The role of the Cluster Facilitator is one of facilitator and coach, not "expert". The philosophy of The LeaderShape® Institute is that everyone is a teacher and everyone is a learner.
Professionally, Cluster Facilitators come from very diverse backgrounds including student personnel administration, non-profit organizations, and private business. To account for the wide array of faculty experience, we send an extensive training manual well in advance of The LeaderShape® Institute, in addition to organizing the Faculty Training session.
What to expect
The LeaderShape® Institute runs for six days and five nights. Faculty (cluster facilitators, Co-Lead facilitators and support staff) departs Friday afternoon for the site with training in the afternoon and early evening. The students arrive on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Camp Canadensis. All faculty and students leave Camp Canadensis on Thursday, May 22, 2014 after the conclusion of our Commencement program at noon.
Know that you will be in both large and small group sessions from approximately 8:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m. daily, so keep this in mind as you consider the position.
Cluster Facilitators will be simultaneously exhilarated, exhausted, challenged and moved by the energy and creativity of approximately 50-60 young leaders from Temple University. You will work with a team forming relationships that, in many cases, will be lifelong friendships. When you leave The LeaderShape Institute, the materials and insights gained will serve you both personally and professionally.
