Hi Everyone!

I grew up here in Leesburg Virginia and I attended Cool Spring Elementary, Simpson Middle School and Loudoun County HS. I graduated with a Business Administration degree with a focus in Project Management from Liberty University. I am a proud military wife of 14 years to David, and a mama to 2 girls I am incredibly proud of, Grace and Claire. Although I am in complete denial still, Grace will be a 6th grader at Simpson Middle School this fall and Claire will be in fourth grade here at FDE. I work part-time as the Office Administrator for Loudoun FCA and I am also a substitute for LCPS, you will see me around FDE often! Hello stars!

This is my 6th year as a member of the board of the FDES PTA, and 2nd year serving as Vice President. I previously served as Fundraising chair. My daughter Cady is starting 5th and is an artist. Her younger sister Adeline is starting 2nd grade and is on the Loudoun Castles Hockey Team at Ion. My husband Rob and I moved to Leesburg 9 years ago, and we love our community and Frederick Douglass Elementary School.

I own Birch Tree Bookstore in downtown Leesburg, and have a strong commitment to education and reading. I have a BA in Education and English, and was a middle school History and English teacher for 10 years before starting my family.

Happy New School Year FDES Stars!

The 2021-22 school year will be my first year serving at Frederick Douglass PTA Treasurer. I’ve previously served as the After School Programs Chair and Staff Appreciation Co-Chair. My son, Nathan Gorman, will be in 4th grade this year, and his younger brother, Bradley Gorman, will be in 1st grade. My stepdaughter, Rachel Gorman, also attended FDES when it first opened and now will be a senior at Heritage High School. My husband, Mike, and I moved to Leesburg in 2012 and have been busy “Livin’ LoCo” with our family ever since.

I am a graduate of James Madison University, where I earned my BBA in Business Management and BFA in Interior Design. During the day, I work as a Program Manager overseeing federal government contracts. When I’m not working or serving on the PTA, I enjoy watching my boys play sports, volunteering with local organizations, and cheering for the Buffalo Bills (I’m originally from Western NY)!

I work as a nurse at Shady Grove Fertility. I'm married to Rob. Kyle is in 3rd grade and Erik is in 1st grade.

Hello FDES Stars,

We are so excited to start our first year at Frederick Douglass! My son, Charles, will be attending first grade. I also have a daughter, Holly who is four years old and can’t wait to join Charles next year at FD. I have previously served as secretary at Douglass Community Center Preschool Advisory board, so I am excited to serve this year on the PTA as the fundraising chair.

I have lived in Northern Virginia for the past 12 years but my husband and I are originally from North Carolina. I graduated with my BS in Food and Nutrition. I also am certified as an expanded functions Dental Assistant. After having Charles and Holly; I have mostly stayed home with them, but I do work part time as a dental assistant here in Leesburg.

In my free time, I enjoy working out and I’m currently training for a half marathon. I also love home decorating and I am always coming up with new ideas and areas of our house to renovate.

I am looking forward to meeting everyone and making this year and future year’s fun filled for the kids and teachers!

I am Tanya Williams and I am a 5th grade teacher here at Frederick Douglass. This is my 11th year of teaching and my 5th year at Frederick Douglass. I have resided in the Northern Virginia area for the past 7 years.

My hobbies include baking and cake decorating, reading, sports, (Go Cleveland Browns and Cavs!) and power walking.

Hi! I have five children, Kaylee (9), Matthew (4), Zachary (4), Thomas (2), Benjamin (2). Yes, I have two sets of twins! I grew up here in Leesburg and attended Balls Bluff and Harper Park. This will be my third year planning the spirit nights for FDE and I am excited for the new school year.

Hi Everyone! I migrated down to Northern Virginia almost 12 years ago where I met my husband, Anthony. We have two children, Francesca (4th grade) and Dominic (Kindergarten). During the day, I work for a mid-size law firm in D.C. as the Accounting & Finance Manager. My introduction to FDE was through my mother-in-law, Gloria Berini, who up until last year was the school’s secretary. We quickly fell in love with the school’s spirit and always look forward to spending time at FDE! This will be my first year on the PTA. I look forward to a year filled with fun PTA events and getting to know you all!

Hello FDES Stars! I was born and raised in Fairfax County and am beginning my 22nd year of teaching high school history for LCPS. We have been proud members of the FDES family since 2013. I have three children, Calvin (an 8th grader at Simpson), Linden (a 6th grader at Simpson), and Lilianna (a 3rd grader at FDES).

Hello FDES families! As Staff Liaison, I serve as the conduit between the PTA and FDES Staff. I attend the monthly board meetings, where I share feedback, questions, and needs from the staff with the PTA. I also share important updates, events, and information from the PTA with the staff on a regular basis. Outside of this role, I am the School Based Instructional Facilitator and Equity Lead. I am looking forward to a fantastic year!
