From the Director
Dear CDS Community,
Term 2 has come to successful end. I am so proud of our middle school students for reaching this milestone in the school year while maintaining an eagerness to learn, and good will toward one another.
It was wonderful seeing such meaningful student performances during the Winter Concert, Art Exhibition, and Candle Lighting Ceremony. We're very grateful for everyone who was involved in making it memorable. I want to extend a special thank you to Ms. Van Liew whose passion for music and teaching have enriched our learners and our community this winter season.
Students---trying to balance the demands of winter exams with concert rehearsals and other school obligations is no easy task! You have demonstrated outstanding perseverance and character in recent weeks. You should be proud of yourselves for the progress you've made thus far in the school year. I'm glad you will now have time to rest and enjoy some freedom from the pressures of school during the winter break.
*Please note that winter report cards will be sent out the second week of January; however, you will have access to Term 2 grades and comments via PowerSchool by Friday 12/20.
Have a wonderful holiday everyone!

2019-20 MS Winter Concert
Next, the 5th graders showed off their xylophone skills and sang in Thai and Khmer (Cambodian language). The 6th graders filled the air with some grooving percussion music, then the 7th graders took the stage. The audience was dazzled by the culmination of mallets dancing over the keys and the heartbeat of the percussion keeping the group stable.
After the intermission, we watched the HS Drama, heard an upbeat choir piece with all the MS students, and then enjoyed the HS Choir. The concert concluded with 5th, 6th, and 7th graders standing side by with HS students as they sang Rise Up.

Winter ESLRs Awards - The 6Cs
CDS MS students are continually learning to be kind to one another, to persevere through difficulty, to think broadly and deeply, and to ask tough questions about themselves and world around them.
They're learning to articulate their ideas and see value in each other's difference. They’re also learning to see themselves as a part of a larger community and to consider their roles and responsibilities within it.
Teachers at CDS are committed to helping each child practice and develop our school values, the 6 Cs. Twice each year we recognize students who have shown significant growth in these areas. The students below actively practice the 6 Cs and have been wonderful examples to those around them. We are grateful for their service to the CDS community.

From our Student Council President on Fill the Sleigh
Dear Students and Parents,
This year Fill the Sleigh has been hugely successful due to all your awesome donations! We have collected piles and piles of them.
All of these donations will go to the Ilsan Holt Center---a necessary facility for people with disabilities. They are thankful for all the support you gave them. Additionally, the student council also thanks you for all your kindness.
Again, thank you so much!
Sincerely,
Sky
