SSS Department Kudos!

Welcome, Clarissa Lynn White!
Born September 2! 20.5 inches long and 7 lbs. 12 oz.
Congrats momma Cassidy and aunt Colleen!
From Deslynn:
I would like to give a Kudos to our team!
I would like to thank everyone on the FAST team! Each one has reached out to offer help and support. I feel so comfortable asking LOTS of questions because everyone has had such an open door policy for help. I feel like I can be successful because of their attitude to see everyone succeed.
I would, however, like Bev to get a BIG GOLD STAR. I appreciate how focused one needs to be when working through assignments. I know I have interrupted her work numerous times AN HOUR and she has been pleasant and generous with her time. She will pop into Blackboard with me and show me around. During onboarding, I do not know how she kept her focus with my gnat-like tendencies with question after question. She has been a great example to me of patience and enjoying the work we have ahead of us!!
AWESOME EVERYONE!

Kudos to Jennifer Edwards who helped a family of 3 get through F2F orientation by working with the principals to ensure a timely school start!
NICE JOB!

Departmental & School Updates
Where is our time going?
As we begin this school year, I want each of us to take a critical look at how we are spending our time. If we are trying to meet our collective group commitments of being intentional in work, and proactively supporting students, we have to ensure our time is being spent in support of these tasks. The only way to do this is by tracking our time.
To that end, in the following week, I will be asking each of us to track our time for 1 week. I know this adds a few minutes of extra work, but the outcome can be powerful. Our goal is to see how we are spending our time, and asking ourselves if the time is spent supporting our priorities.
Take a peek at the following infographic related to prioritizing time. This is the model we will be using.
Look for more directions, and out an action plan, in our next roadmap!
Out of Office Reply Template
To avoid confusion with out of office replies, and who will respond, Bev drafted the following template we should all use when we set an out of office reply. The goal isn't to direct calls to the main office, as they may not have the information needed. Use the following approach AND copy in your regular signature. Your signature will have the office number, and if the email sender feels they need to follow up right away, then they'll have the information to do so. We, however, don't want to direct individuals to call the office in our absence if that isn't going to be helpful.
If you are going to be gone longer than 5 consecutive school days, work with Alex to find a designee that can help triage your emails.
Hello,
I am out of the office [date(s)] [optional: add reason – e.g. school outing, holiday]. I will return emails when I return on [date].
Sincerely,
Name

If you haven't yet: ACTION REQUIRED: Feedback needed on Counselors/Advisor Mass Communication plan
If you haven't already done so, ACTION REQUIRED:
(1) counselors/Advisors review and send feedback to Mark;
(2) FAST, is this something that needs to be evolved to fit FAST, too, if necessary? Send that feedback to Mark.
Check out the draft plan HERE in our last Smore.

Professional Learning Communities
As your PLC has data to review, send info to Alex to post for the group.
An ongoing process in which educators work collaboratively in recurring cycles of collective inquiry to achieve better results for the students they serve.
PLC’s operate under the assumption that the key to improving learning for students is continuous, job-embedded learning for educators.
Four questions to guide PLC’s
- What do we expect students to learn?
- How do we know they are learning it?
- How do we respond when they do not learn it?
- How do you respond when they have already learned it?
