Failure Plans and AP Mid-Year using Rubric

During my visits, please have your failure plans available for review and a copy of your AP written Mid-Year feedback using the rubric.

Reminder to be sure you have reviewed your "Next Steps" from the Mid-Year to discuss with me at each visit. Additionally, please update me on progress-monitoring, including writing.

Field Trips- Spring

Please consider an internal suggested field trip deadline for the semester to ensure that you are aware of all out of county trips which may involve multiple approvals (i.e. contracts, out of county, etc.).

Feedback for ED- Data Meetings

Based upon your feedback and I would like to utilize a planning model similar to one we have in school leadership which involves planning our monthly data meetings together. I would like for an elementary and secondary representative to meet with me separately to plan our the data meetings each month. I need two representatives for February, March, April and May.

Master Schedule Presentation

Please be prepared to present your master schedule in a roundtable setting. I sent an appointment to secondary campuses. Remember to create your presentation with all stakeholders (please bring information/data by period reporting how many students are in each course).

Socio-Economic Forms

Please work with campus data clerks to ensure that each student has submitted a socio-economic forms available through Chancery.

Dallas Education Foundation Fundraising

District Campus Connection Web Page will host projects that DO allow cash, must be signed/approved (department on Dallas ISD)

Donors Choose- items not cash

Crowd-funding- Cash to Individuals is NOT allowed, Crowd-funding is NOT allowed


  • Applicant must be a full-time Dallas ISD employee who spends 75% of time with students
  • Registration from principals, administrators, PTAs, teacher assistants, student teachers, substitutes and part-time teachers will not be accepted
  • Pursuant to CDC policydonations must be documented and logged online by school designee
  • Materials/equipment that is delivered to the school is the property of the school and will primarily remain at the school if the teacher leaves
  • Point systems gives teachers opportunity to create projects with higher monetary values

Progress Monitoring

Summer School- 2 weeks at campus this summer with homecampus principal supervision, summer program (must apply- open to anyone- end of June until end of July- All Day)


Please continue to share your campus refined processes for three week progress monitoring in each content area to include the writing (essay using rubric and revising/editing). The following are some of the practices already in place:


  • CILT/DTR peer feedback to new teachers for after-school tutorials, Saturday school and small group instruction
  • Essay writing calibration between teachers/campuses/grading of essay writing with progress monitoring by leadership
  • 3 week data meetings with teams/campus leadership
  • Heat maps by student with evidence on how the teacher will support
  • AF/CIC collaboration with teams for common assessments or to provide adjustments to ACE assessments
  • DOL utilized to provide small group instruction and instructional adjustments
  • Student/Parent ownership and progress monitoring

Spot observations clarification:

· Three spots must be scored per semester (all required to be entered, even those not scored)

· Entered within two working days of the spot into SchoolNet (DNA Regulation)

· Number of spots:

o No effectiveness level and Progressing II or below (10)

o Proficient I or DTR eligible (8)

o Distinguished (Proficient II or above) 6 (3 per semester- all must be scored, December is extremely short, approximately the first week )

· New Teachers through-out the year (with documentation)
o Train new teachers within 15 days
o Provide overview of Campus Action Plan



Please note that you must provide and document training and supports for new teachers through out the school year within 15 days (see policy/regulation above)
