Important Message from Dr. Cain
March 10, 2020
Good Afternoon,
As we prepare to begin deep cleaning our buildings, we need to enlist your help to ensure the process is effective and that your classroom materials are protected. Before your building is deep cleaned we ask that you:
Remove items from desk surfaces;
Remove anything taped or secured to desk surfaces;
Take down anything on your walls that may be damaged by a fine mist;
We know and understand this is a very busy time of year and we appreciate your cooperation as we work to ensure our buildings are clean and disinfected. We will be repeating the deep clean in every building at least once following spring break as a precaution. Attached below is the tentative schedule for the first round of cleaning.
Please note: It is important that we are consistent in our communication to families with questions regarding student exposure to illness. If you have questions regarding student travel or exposure to family members who have recently traveled, please share these questions with your school nurse and administration. School nurses or administrators can then continue the conversation with the family if necessary. All other staff should refrain from contacting families to specifically gather information related to COVID-19 exposure or someone’s travel plans. We are working closely with our County Department of Public Health and taking direction from state and federal officials, so all communication needs to be coordinated and consistent in a situation that is very fluid and rapidly changing.
Also, we ask that you please be mindful of your discussions about COVID-19 with students. Adults have many unanswered questions about the virus and we want to arm everyone with facts and not cause any undue anxiety, particularly for our students. As we shared and posted on the WSD website, the National Association of Psychology has shared this resource related to talking with young people about the novel coronavirus.
We appreciate your cooperation and support as we all work together to keep our buildings clean and keep you and our students healthy and safe. Thank you for all you do!
Curtis Cain, Ph.D.
