Jimmys Background
Jimmy Carter was the 39th president of the United States. He went to Georgia Southwestern College and the Georgia Institute of Technology. Also got a B.S degree from the U.S Naval Academy. In July 7, 1946, he married Rosalynn Smith of Plains.
Occupations
After his father died, Carter came back to Georgia from his naval commission, he took over Carter's Farms, and with his wife , they operated Carter's Wavehouse which is a seed & farm supply company.
Important Issues
JImmy Carter did have some radical thinking when he was president, and also after he got off of naval condition. While he was president, he created the Department of Energy in 1977 and, and his goal was to have a national energy policy where companys & people use clean and alternative fuels. Also installed solar panels on the White House roof.
Significant Contributions
Some more of his significant contributions are creating the passage of the Soil& Water Conservation Act, the Antartic Conservation Act and the Endangered Wilderness Act. One other big contribution is that the superfund legislation gave the EPA funds to clean up abandoned toxic waste dumps.
