Plus/Delta
Plus (what's going well):
- Kids are doing a great job at recess with listening and cleaning up after themselves.
- Duty staff are doing a great job reflecting on the best, most efficient ways to do arrival and dismissal.
- Teams are supporting each other throughout the day and working well together.
- Doing some great lessons with preschoolers on investigations and storytelling activities have started.
- Love the way the cafeteria staff are packing our lunches in individual units (bags for Montessori and sealed trays for preschool). It makes it SO much easier.
- Classrooms are receiving supplies quickly and with the support of coordinators, support staff, and admin, feel like everyone is "busting their tails" to help us.
Delta (what do we need to work on or change):
- Staff want to connect more with students who are remote. It is taking some adjustments to do in person and remote learning. Staff are looking forward to spending more quality time with students who are remote and appreciate families being patient during the transition.
- Masks~some kids still need reminders to keep their mask up. Staff will talk with families to ask for help with these reminders and talk about how it keeps everyone safe.
You can do a plus/delta activity with your child to see how things are going this week. It helps us be reflective and make small adjustments that make school a great experience for everyone. Ask your child:
- What's going really well today/this week?
- What do you think we might need to work on together to make things better?
Return to Learn~Montessori This Week is BLUE, Next Week is GREEN.
We have enjoyed having some of our students on campus and look forward to another group next week. Please continue to check your email and Seesaw announcements for updates as we keep tweaking our protocols for the best experience for our students.
Transportation
Bus pick up and drop off times will be sent to you by our data manager, Lenore Luster, as they are finalized. If you have not filled out a transportation request and need bus service, please fill it out today. It takes 3-5 days to get students on a route/bus so expect delays and make arrangements for drop off/pick up if you have not already completed your request.
Online Student Transportation Request Form
Car Riders can be dropped off in the lower lot between 7:30 and 8 am and pick up at 1:30 pm. They will be screened prior to entering the building. Parents should wait in their car during the screening. Make sure your car placard is on your dash so we can quickly call for your student.
Walkers will enter and exit through the front entrance between 7:30 and 8 am and picked up at 1:30 pm. They will be screened prior to entering the building. Parents should wait on the sidewalk in the front of the school during screening.
If your child registers a temperature, you may be asked to wait a few minutes for a recheck (especially if the heat is on). If your child has a temperature or symptoms, you will be asked to take them home and will be contacted by school personnel with instructions.
EVERYONE should wear a mask EVERY DAY, ALL DAY. If you need a mask for your child, let a staff member know. We will be happy to provide one and will have them at each entrance.
AFTER 8 am, please enter only through the front office. Parents should plan to walk with their child to the front entrance and wait while staff complete a screening.
All transportation changes should occur BEFORE 12 NOON. This gives us time to plan safely for everyone's departure.
Schedule Changes
Schedules will shift as needed to accommodate teaching students at home and at school. We appreciate your patience as we work out the kinks of this new arrangement. While we are making changes to how we operate, we will SUSPEND CLUBS. When we are able to resume clubs, there will no doubt be a big reveal from our Enhancement Squad.
Parent Note
Please know that at any time that your child develops Covid symptoms or is exposed to someone with Covid symptoms, you will be asked to pick him/her up early from school. If you need a note or call to your employer to explain why you have to leave work, we will work with you to provide that. If your child is asked to quarantine, school staff will provide specific information about how to participate remotely during that time.
We are using the same attendance procedures during this time. You can be present for school by being in person (if you are in the blue or green weeks), attending virtual meetings, completing work on Seesaw, or communicating with school staff.
Please know that all safety protocols are included in the following district links. Our staff will be sanitizing the Montessori classroom materials as they are used. All aerosol cleaners will be sprayed after staff and students leave the area/room. If you have any questions, please reach out to our staff at 350-2900. We want to do our best to keep things clean and safe for your child and for our staff.

Contacting the School during REMOTE Learning
Our school office is open on modified hours due to Covid restrictions in place, but we are not more than a phone call away. Our phones are forwarded to office staff and administrators working off site so that we won't miss your calls. You may hear a Google message when you call that asks you to say your name and why you are calling. This helps us get your phone call to the right staff member and avoids us spending time on telemarketing calls. Feel free to also leave voice mails with detailed information about your reason for calling.
Our staff can be emailed at any time with questions, concerns, or words of encouragement. Every staff member can be reached using this email format: firstname.lastname@acsgmail.net
If you have items you need to drop off on campus, essential staff on site will not always be in the office and may not hear the doorbell. You may mail items to 441 Haywood Road, Asheville, NC 28806 OR you may contact the office staff to arrange for a day to drop something at the front door.
Please let us know if you or your family needs anything during this time of remote learning. We care about you and want to stay connected. If your address or phone number changes, let us know by emailing your child's teacher. He/She will pass the information to the office for you.
