- teaching essential skills such as self-awareness, emotion management and empathy
- meeting with students in small groups and individually as needed
- advocating for equitable access to educational opportunities
- connecting students and families to community resources and assistance
- collaborating with teachers and staff to promote a safe and positive learning environment
School Counseling Programming & Procedures
Counseling
The purpose these meetings is to give me an idea of what students need to be checked-in on and to help me to have a general understanding of the individual needs of each student.
I will send a Google calendar invite as a reminder the day before or sooner.
Class lessons will be scheduled for each class twice per month and will begin with my Meet the School Counselor lesson.
Small groups will be established on an as-needed basis and will start mid-September.

Reporting Child Abuse/Neglect
Anytime you intend on making a DHS report I must be notified in order to complete the necessary paperwork. I will not ever discourage you from making a call to DHS but I am here to support you if you need help determining whether a call should be made or if you would like for me to sit with you while you make the call.
See the flyer below for more information.

I went to VEGAS!
Here are some of my key take aways from that amazing experience:
- There's nothing wrong with students that what's right with them can't fix.
- Meta-cognition is hard for kids, so when you ask "what were you thinking" they don't always know.
- Changing our approach to equity requires different habits.
- "Diversity is like being invited to a party..Inclusion is being asked to dance..Belonging is dancing like no one's watching".
