Sticks and Stones is Wrong
Our words have the power to hurt. Cruel remarks wound others for life.
In our world, conversations are becoming more and more dangerous. More and more people are listening for their turn to talk and not listening to understand. Additionally, we have the ability to live in physical or virtual echo chambers where we are immersed in opinions like our own and avoid those with differing views. I have personally witnessed the destructive effects of words on people's emotions and I'm sure many of us are able to share examples of the same.
Allow me to encourage you today. If you have strong opinions and beliefs, it is not always easy to have the patience to listen or respond in peaceful ways. Passion is a wonderful thing, but if applied thoughtlessly- can be destructive. In 1858 Abraham Lincoln delivered a powerful speech warning that "a house divided against itself cannot stand." Lincoln also shared that "if you would win a man to your cause, first convince him that you are his sincere friend." Unless our speech is tempered with love and held in check, it will have damaging effects.
It’s important to be mindful of the power of our words. Culture is everyone’s responsibility, so let’s choose to build a positive one.

Music Notes
We are off to a great start in the Music room! We’ve been busy getting back into the groove of creating music with our movements, instruments, and voices. The younger students are working on playing and identifying steady beat in music, while the 4th and 5th graders have begun learning recorders and ukuleles. We have lots of joyful music being made!
SAVE THE DATE!
November 29 is the date for our Holiday Program this year. More information on this night will come later.

STUDENT SIGN OUT
If you are picking up your student(s) early, please come to the office and sign your student(s) out. During COVID this process changed but now that we are "back to normal" students will need to be signed out. Thank you for your patience during this transition.
