Winter Break Reading Challenge
Winter Break is a great time for students to keep up great reading habits (or start developing them)! All 5th graders have been invited to join the Winter Break Reading Challenge and have received paperwork with instructions for tracking. Let's bring in 2018 with a few good books!
How the Grinch Stole Christmas
Next week in language arts classes, we are learning a technique called “close reading.” To introduce the concept and make it engaging, we are studying the song, “Where Are You Christmas?” by Faith Hill. As part of the close read, we will view the music video by Faith Hill and a scene from How the Grinch Stole Christmas where Cindy Lou Who sings the song. We would love to celebrate the end of our unit by viewing the movie in its entirety. I hope you will allow your student to watch as we see how the song fits in to the story of the Grinch!

In the afternoon, each class will have a small celebration in homeroom groups. If you would like to contribute snacks, drinks, or paper products for these celebrations, please contact your student's homeroom teacher directly. Thanks!
