OAK HAMMOCK OSPREY BAND
SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER
BAND PARENT MEETINGS
Our Band program is a success because of great parents like you. Throughout the school year Band Parents have the opportunity to help the Osprey Band soar. Volunteers are needed for things like Concerts, Yankee Candle Sale, Candy Gram construction, chaperoning the Spring Field Trip, working at a New York Mets Spring training Game, and many more. The monthly Band Parent meetings are a way for you to stay connected to and be informed of your child's experience in the Osprey Band. Please come out and see what it is all about.

MEET THE DIRECTOR
My name is Amy Isenhower and this is my ninth year as the Director of Bands here at Oak Hammock K8 School. I was born and raised in Rockledge, Florida where I began my love for music. I learned to play the flute in middle school and continued band into high school where I also learned how to play the tenor saxophone. From High School I continued my music education at Brevard Community College, where I received my Associate in Arts Degree. I then transferred to The Florida State University and studied Music Education. While at FSU I participated in the Marching Chiefs, Symphonic Band, Campus Band (where I played bassoon), Solo and Ensemble groups, and the service sorority Tau Beta Sigma. I graduated from FSU with a Bachelors of Music Education in 2001. Before teaching at OHK8 I was the Director of Bands at Avon Park Middle School in Avon Park and was Music Specialist at Glendale Elementary in Vero Beach.
In 2007 I became a National Board Certified Teacher in the area of Music. In 2008 I was selected as Teacher of the Year by Sam's Club number 4972. In 2010 I was selected as the Teacher of the Year for OHK8 as well as one of 10 teachers selected nationally by RBC Bank for their Tribute to Teachers award.
I have played the flute professionally at the Cocoa Village Playhouse for their musical productions and with the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra. I am principal flutist and librarian for the Treasure Coast Symphony and a flutist and a member of the Board of Directors for the Port Saint Lucie Concert Band. I return to FSU every year to perform in the Marching Chiefs Alumni Band at the homecoming football game. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my husband of seven years, my cats Suki and Lilly, photography, baking and watching FSU football.
