Think Different #78
Resources for the Week of Nov. 25, 2018
We hop you will join us for this amazing day of learning.
You’ve heard “There’s an App for that!” and there is, but it takes time, effort and money to find that right app. And even then it probably won’t really fit your needs.
So why not just master the apps you already have for your teaching and learning.
Join Ken Tuley for a day of hands-on experience to maximize the power of the built-in apps. Leverage the power and features of the Camera, Notes, iMovie, GarageBand, Clips, Safari, Pages, Keynote and Numbers to enhance and elevate any lesson to new heights. Even skilled iPad users will learn new tricks to maximize these built-in apps and discover features you didn’t even know existed. It will be a game-changing day!
Reserve your spot now: (Registration opens Oct. 5)

iPad iCamp will be a refreshing day of ideas and activities to help teachers be more productive in their classroom and organized in lesson planning. No more sticky notes stuck here & there. We'll look at teaching and learning with iPads and be reminded of best instructional practices to engage and enhance student learning. We'll finish with reflection ideas on the iPads that will help with planning for the next lesson.
I hope you will join us for this inspiring day of learning

Apple’s Clips Introduces New Selfie Scenes, Filters, and More for you iPhones and iPads
Six new Selfie Scenes. Last year, Clips debuted Selfie Scenes as a way to utilize the new TrueDepth camera system. Selfie Scenes isolate you from your environment and replace your surroundings with interesting digital backgrounds, such as the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars, or an animated world. The new scenes added in today's update are called Clouds, High Noon, Big Backyard, Monster Lab, Animal Forest, and Municiberg Mayhem, a scene from The Incredibles 2. There are also new Filters and soundtracks: Comic Mono, Watercolor Mono, and Aged Film and 17 new tunes to choose from for your videos.

The Kid Should See This connects busy teachers and parents to a growing library of smart, short, & super-cool, “not-made-for-kids, but perfect for them” videos that can be watched in the classroom or together at home. Enjoy 8-12 new vids each week, and search 4,000+ videos in the archives, curated by me, Rion Nakaya, with help from my 7 & 10 year olds.
What kind of videos are on this site?
Our video selections are driven by wonder, enthusiasm, and “wow!” moments. We cover all topics under and beyond our sun, with a special focus on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, & math).
We’re also on a mission to share information about subjects that are often misunderstood, like evolution, climate change science, and clean energy solutions, and look for opportunities to amplify women and people of colorwho work in STEM fields.
Start browsing our main navigation, find related topic tags below every video, or search the site for specific content

The 2019 Global Leadership Summit in Chicago March 15- Check out the details
I’m signed up for a GREAT free online conference for teachers in December and wanted to tell you about it. I also participated last year and it was GREAT.
It’s called the Ditch That Textbook Digital Summit. There are nine video presentations from awesome presenters on topics related to tech and solid teaching and learning. Get your free ticket at: DitchSummit.com.
HOW IT WORKS: New presentations are released every day from Dec. 14-22. They remain available until Dec. 31 so you can re-watch or catch up on any you’ve missed. They’re pre-recorded, so you can watch them whenever you want until Dec. 31. After that, the summit ends and the videos are unavailable to watch anymore.
FREE PD HOURS: You can get FREE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CREDITS for watching the videos. There’s a form to fill out after each presentation, and you’ll get an automatic PD certificate emailed to you.
