Journeying in Hope and Love: Building a Culture of Accompaniment
The Road to Emmaus
As they approached the village to which they were going,
he gave the impression that he was going on farther.
But they urged him, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over.”
So he went in to stay with them.
And it happened that, while he was with them at table,
he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them.
With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him,
but he vanished from their sight.
Then they said to each other, “Were not our hearts burning [within us]
while he spoke to us on the way and opened the scriptures to us?”
Then the two recounted what had taken place on the way
and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.
~ Luke 24:28-32, 35
Dear St. Clare School Families,
I apologize for the lateness of this newsletter. Having been away on a school accreditation visit means continuing the work left behind last week, in addition to the work this week. However, I feel these visits are important for Saint Clare School. Around this time next year, we will be visited by a team to affirm the good work that we do and recommend ways we can improve our program for the high achievement of all students. The visit has provided me with insights that we can learn from and ways to move our school forward. Great things are already happening here and wonderful individuals are making an enormous impact on student learning, but we know that there is always growth that comes with an honest assessment of our capacity. This is OUR work, together.
As always, I am grateful to walk this journey with you.

PRAYING IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE POPE AND BISHOP
Saint Clare Student Council will lead the student body in a Living Rosary on Friday, March 25th immediately following morning assembly in conjunction with the Pope’s Consecration of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on the Feast of the Annunciation. Join us at morning assembly for this very important prayer for peace.
In a worldwide plea for peace, Pope Francis is asking all bishops and their priests to join him in an Act of Consecration of Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on the Feast of the Annunciation, March 25 at 5pm Rome Time (9am Pacific), which will be livestreamed via the Vatican’s social media accounts.
BishopOscar Cantú said: “I will join the Holy Father in prayer and I encourage the clergy, religious, and the faithful of our diocese to also join in the consecration at that time from their homes or parishes and pray in support of the Holy Father’s intentions, as we seek the intercession of the Blessed Virgin, the Queen of Peace, in bringing conversion and peace to this region.” To learn all about what the consecration means and why it matters: see this article by Father Johann Roten, S.M.: Meaning of Consecration to Mary.
ALL ARE WELCOME: A Day of Service in Collaboration with Catholic Charities | April 3rd
Saint Clare School’s Mission and Catholic Identity Committee invites you to a A Day of Service focusing on Accompanying the Stranger. The day will begin with the 10:30 Family Mass, followed by a simple Solidarity Meal, and “Passages”, a Refugee Simulation for all age groups (appropriate for younger students who attend with adults). Here is the entire description of the simulation: https://www.unhcr.org/473dc1772.pdf.
We look forward to sharing this meaningful day which will culminate in a call to action to help our brothers and sisters who are forced to flee from their homes due to political or cultural unrest. We thank Catholic Charities for helping us learn more about the plight of refugees.

2021-22 School Calendar
Below, you will find the Calendar Grid for the school year. Some find this difficult to navigate, so I’ve created the Calendar Highlights document which I hope will make it a bit easier for you to consume.
Some changes since the end of the school year: we added September 20th as a NO SCHOOL DAY and our School Year will end a day earlier. The original calendar had us attending 183 days of school, knowing that we had three days over the required 180 days. We are keeping the 181 days in the event we have to close for an emergency due to poor air quality.
Other options to view the calendar include a Google calendar synched to ParentSquare, or subscribing to the St. Clare School Public Calendar below:
